system-config-network-tui not part of base install... wtf
Who was the genius that decided that system-config-network-tui should NOT be part of the base CentOS 6.3 install ?? Not to mention it has insane deps like wifi firmware packages... not really if all you want to do is configure eth0 from the command line... FC

system-config-date-tui ??
...config file for it. I'd rather not manually edit it, it looks simple enough, but I'd rather use the tool if there is one. system-config-date wants to pull in ~ 20MB of stuff I don't want that looks like it is needed for a gui config tool, but yum can't find a system-config-date-tui alternative. Is there a text UI / console alternative, and what it is called? If not, where is the format for /etc/sysconfig/clock specified? Install is a xen image (originally CentOS 5.0), so selecting the desired local time at install wasn't an option. Right now it says: ZONE="Amer...

CentOS 6.5 equivalents in CentOS 7
I tried to install CentOS 7 on a new system. It works. However, I'm noticing small things: 1. system-config-network-tui is not installed and yum cannot find it. I realized for this -- nmtui What about firewall? I can't seem to understand the replacement from system-config-firewall-tui Jason

puppet vs rhel4 system-config-securitylevel
Hey every one, Over the past week I have been exploring puppet and had been ignoring an oddity in its output that Luke helped me figure out today. It all started with trying to configure puppet to configure iptables using redhats utility system-config-securitylevel-tui on rhel4. I was able to get it up and running using the following configuration: node default{ firewall {rhel4: ports => [ "22:tcp", # ssh "8139:tcp", # puppetd ] }tables using redhats utility } define firewall($port...

Transferring the printer database
Is there a way to transfer a Samba printer "database" from one version to another? I tried copying the .tdb files from v2.2.6 to v2.2.8pre1 but it didn't seem to work. Some sort of upgrade path is needed here - it's a lot of work to start over if you've got a lot of printers. PCC

Changing menuselect values from CLI and not TUI
Hi All, I'm in the process of writing an install script and I would like to change some settings for the install process but I don't want the user to go into menuselect and make the changes manually. Is there a way to make the changes to menuselect from the CLI? As an example, selecting the iLBC codec. menuselect codec ilbc on Regards David. -------------- next part -------------- An

Open extra ports on firewall?
Hi, I'm using the preconfigured firewall that comes with CentOS 5. I configure it with system-config-securitylevel-tui, close all ports except SSH, and then open only the ones I need. Right now, on one of my desktops, I've installed AMSN, which requires opening a series of ports. I've configured the app to use ports 7000 to 7010 (TCP and UDP). When running system-config-securitylevel-tui, the last line...

NFS problem
I'm trying to NFS-mount a CentOS directory on my Fedora laptop, but I find I can only do this is I turn off the firewall on the CentOS server. If instead I go to system-config-securitylevel-tui on the server, and allow NFS4, this does not do the trick. Nor does allowing port 2049. What do I need to allow? [I should say that the CentOS server is remote, and difficult to access directly; that is why I used system-config-securitylevel-tui, rather than system-config-securitylevel .] -- T...

Print share using hpoj.
...es. The question here is are there any differences in setting up a print server using this new driver than the usual one? I've set up the printer locally, (on the Samba server I'm going to use as a print server too), to test if all is working, and I can print a test page from printconf-tui. When I used printconf-tui, I specified "Local Printer Device", do I leave this as is for my Samba print share, or do I use one of the other options, like Windows Print Queue? (or should I just go for it and see what happens.......) Chow, Trevor. -------------- next part --------------...

System->Administation->Network
I found quite a bit on google about the problem that "Network" does not show up under the System->Administration menu any more. All the solutions seem to indicate that I just need to install system-config-network-tui, but that doesn't change anything. I've turn off Network Manager before trying to do any of this because I want to configure my network offline. A little push in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks steve campbell

blocking outgoing ports with iptables
Hi, I'm using the generic system-config-securitylevel-tui program on a remote server to configure my firewall. So far it's been fairly decent, allowing me to open up ports and whatnot. But I want to start blocking a couple of outgoing ports on my machine. I want to lock it down so the only traffic going in our out of my machine is stuff that I...

And then it stopped. When I tried the Windows test page again it said the printer didn't exist, so I deleted the entry and tried to re-install the printer, but now it doesn't exist, yet it WILL still...
