IAX2 weirdness and rejected calls: Invalid BYTE

A little over a week ago I upgraded my home box to Asterisk 1.4.12 - I
have been using 1.4.xx here for some time but the rest of the boxes lag
and are typically 1.2.16.
Shortly after upgrading my home box (gate.tubby.org) - known as [tubby]
in the config files - calls in from SIPgate to DDI numbers at home
stopped working. Also calls from remote phones on another exchange to
me stopped working - both resulted in the re-order tone (fast busy) and

using sym-links with Samba
I have a File Server with 3 HDDs. Everyone has a directory with the name
"samba". One of the HDD has a secondary Directory with the name "samba_nfo". In
this Directory,i have created links to the other shares. My Question is: Can
a Client follow this links with the smb.conf Option "wide links = no". It is
a security Problem when i turn this Option to "yes"

Fedora Core 6 (FC6) and Asterisk-1.2.13 and Zaptel-1.2.10 compile problems
...edora Core 5 (FC5) to the recent FC6 and am struggling to build Zaptel-1.2.10 and Asterisk-1.2.13 on the box... which is an Intep P4 2.8GHz HT processor box with 845 chipset, hence the kernel installed is 2.6.18-1.2798.fc6-i686 so we hve this:
[root@gate zaptel-1.2.10]# uname -a
Linux gate.tubby.org 2.6.18-1.2798.fc6 #1 SMP Mon Oct 16 14:54:20 EDT 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
I have ensured that the kernel-devel package and glibc-kernel headers are installed.
When I attempt to compile Zaptel-1.2.10 I get the following:

IP Phone with Standard Power Ethernet
I am looking at phones for my asterisk system and seem to have a problem.
The only Power over Ethernet phones I can find that support the IEEE
standard are 3com. Cisco uses its own proprietary ( and is expensive to
boot ), snom has a different but equally non-IEEE method, and i'm havent
found another phone that I'm confident can do the job for our office.
Whats a good high quality ip

ooh323 drops registration with Cisco IOS GateKeeper - bug or config issue?
All,
I'm running (attempting to) ooh323 with Asterisk and a Cisco 2621XM router operating as a H.323 GateKeeper, however when I bring the Asterisk box up it registers successfully with the GateKeeper (exchanges GRQ/GCF, then RRQ/RCF) it notes the GateKeeper supports keepalive at 300 seconds, when it gets to time to re-register its sends an RRQ again and gets rejected with RRJ (unspecified
