megatec driver and usb-to-serial converters
...c" driver only supports UPSes which have a serial (RS232) interface. However, I'm under the impression that most of the models that speak the megatec protocol, and have an USB interface, just have a standard serial-to-USB converter inside. This being the case, there should be a "/dev/ttyUSBx" device which the megatec driver could use just as if it were talking to the UPS over an RS232 cable. But... either this isn't the case, or these converters aren't recognized by the kernel's "usbserial" driver as such, and all that needs to be done is just convice the ke...

Problems with USB-serial converters -- please advise on code fix
Hello! I've ran into this annoying issue when setting up a new server. I have an APC SmartUPS hooked up on a USB-serial converter on /dev/ttyUSB0. This works nicely, until: hub 3-0:1.0: port 1 disabled by hub (EMI?), re-enabling... pl2303 ttyUSB0: pl2303 converter now disconnected from ttyUSB0 usb 3-1: pl2303 converter now attached to ttyUSB1 apcsmart gets into an infinite loop of this:

help writing a usb hid driver for existing ups
...mplements the same protocol as other powercom devices implements, but only when talking over serial port (there's no such port on the device). Someone wrote a draft version of usbserial driver for it, and the UPS works with this kernel-level driver and with powercom driver from nut (using /dev/ttyUSBx device). The UPS comes with OEM program, upsmon, that talks to the device using /dev/hiddevX device node, i.e. using USB HID protocol. I captured some (s)traces of it when at work(*). The question is how to write proper driver for it (because using kernel-mode usbserial driver looks a bit.. too...

Monitor UPS Brand SMS
I am far from expert on these matters. But have a couple questions: 1. Are you sure that /dev/ttyUSB0 exists and is the result of the Prolific USB->serial converter? For example, if you yank the Prolific and reboot, is /ttyUSB0 there still? It is possible that there is another /dev/ttyUSBx out there.I doubt this but wonder. 2. I have recently been fuddled due to permission problems of various sorts. Are you sure that the user under which nut is running is able to access the /dev/ttyUSB file? Wine and eBookMan Desktop
How do I get wine to connect to an USB port ? I have tried the following (in ~/.wine/dosdevices): ln -s /dev/ttyUSB0 USB: but there are a couple of problems. 1) SuSE 10.1 has no ttyUSBx devices; 2) I don't know if USB: is the correct name for the port -- Andrew "Oh, bother," said the Borg. tcgetattr: Inappropriate ioctl for device
Dear nut users, I am running nut-2.6.0 on Slackware-Linux-13.37.0 with kernel 2.6.37.6. I am trying to get the software work for a repotec UPS with model name: RPT-1003AU. The UPS communicates with the computer via USB. I know that the model is not officially supported but I want to try out whether it will work with some of the repotec drivers. Here is the result with the genericups upstype=13

Hello everyone. I have a "Forza Power Technologies" UPS, model sl-501. the software i've been used to manage it is Winpower v.2.2.0.1. It works on windows but not linux. There is a version for this app for linux, but once installed, it doesn't detect the ups (the connection is via usb). My question is if there is a driver useful for this hardware. Unable to set up a "serial-over-USB" UPS (APC BZ2200BI-BR)
...12.432541 unable to detect an APC Smart protocol UPS on port /dev/ttyACM0 check the cabling, port name or model name and try again Moreover, as suggested in [3], I tried without success to force the 'usbserial' module to load the device as a USB device and hopefully register it as /dev/ttyUSBx: # modprobe usbserial vendor=0x051d product=0xc812 I couldn't be able to set up the UPS under apcupsd as well. Nut with megatec_usb
Hi, I'm new in the list and I'm having a little bit trouble to put the megatec_usb to work. I've been using NUT for a while with the apc and megatec driver (serial), with no problem. The server is a Ubuntu 8.04.2 with NUT version 2.2.1-2.1ubuntu7.2, the default package version in this ubuntu release. I've configured the ups.conf as follows: [sms] driver = megatec_usb
