two irix patches
First, does anyone know why the following was added in the first place? It purposely strips the tty off of tty names (e.g., ttyq1 becomes q1) before sticking them in wtmp. IRIX then has no idea what terminal people are attached to, causing commands like wall to fail (as they try to open /dev/q1). Maybe this should be version specific? --- openssh-SNAP-20001129.orig/loginrec.c Thu Nov 9 22:28:31 2000 +++ openssh-SNAP-2...

[Bug 214] New: IRIX utmp problem loginrec.c: line_abbrevname() goes wrong
...ty: normal Priority: P2 Component: sshd AssignedTo: openssh-unix-dev at mindrot.org ReportedBy: phgrau at zedat.fu-berlin.de On IRIX the sshd writes wrong entries in /var/adm/utmp. The line_abbrevname function does not trim the pseudo tty name correct. i.e. /dev/ttyq1 gets "tyq1" instead off "q1". So programms like talk and xbiff, who reads /var/adm/utmp stumble about this wrong entries. There ist a usenet posting describing the same problem, and saying that it will be fixed, but it did not happen, see URL above. ------- You are receiving...
