Debian sarge in domU
...stalled as it is described in the manual.
In a second domU I installed a sarge as it is described. This linux starts
until the crond starts:
[...]
Starting deferred execution scheduler: atd.
Starting periodic command scheduler: cron.
then it takes a while an this messages appears:
INIT: Id "tty1" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: no more processes left in this runlevel
And I don''t get a login promt.
If I boot in singl-user mode I can login as root.
Any hints?
Thanks

Ubuntu Hardy Heron x64 w/ Xen 3.2 hangs on boot at /etc/rc.local
Hello everybody!
My server with Ubuntu Hardy Heron x64 with Xen 3.2 hangs on when booting at
"Starting local boot scripts (/etc/rc.local)".
My /etc/rc.local is default and I can''t find out why it stops there.
It''s possible to SSH to the server and everything works fine. I just can''t
do anything from the physical server.
I''ve googled but nothing have

the VM hangs right after starting crond. This is exactly before the
login prompt (which doesn''t come up).
1) In the internet, the solution is an /extra/ line in the configuration
like /extra = ''xencons=tty1''/. That works, but isn''t there another solution?
2) I''m trying to start the VM via libvirt which uses XML configuration,
and I can''t get it to work (tried to convert the /extra/ line to

Unable to xm console in a running domU
...uot;console=tty xencons=tty"

But none worked.
I noted that in the inittab file of my domU, when I put the following
line in it:
---
1:2345:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 xvc0

the console never shows up, so I cannot log in my domU.
But if I put instead:
---
1:2345:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty1
---
Then now the console appears, and it is called tty1. But as soon as I
hit ctrl+], then try to xm console into, I am locked out. What''s
strange is that in my domU config file, I am using extra =
"console=xvc0 xencons=xvc0" which I see is past to the kernel, because

Vinculate tty1 or tty7 to domU
Hi.
Im looking how to vinculate directly the dom0 tty1 or tty7 to my domU.
The idea is provide to the sysadmin a "direct Access" to the domU.
Is possible do that?
Thanks in advance

Error on DomU with xencons=ttyS
...rs'' Manual" says that xencons=ttyS attaches the console to
/dev/ttyS0.
The direct cause of this error is that mingetty ended on abnormal status
immediately.
mingetty was logging the following message. I checked the source codes
and found that this message was logged when opening /dev/tty1 failed on
ENXIO.
/bin/mingetty[2399]: tty1: cannot open tty: No such device or address
I confirmed that removing tty1-tty6 from /etc/inittab stopped the error.
But I wonder if it is a proper way to not let the error occur.
In my view, this error should not occur even if tty1-tty6 are in

Xen 4.0 - No console prompt after booting domU but functional SSH

nameofdomU". I do see all the startup stuff but I see no login prompt. If I
connect to the domU via SSH, it work perfectly fine.
I have tried adding the following line to the domU configuration file which
used to work fine in Xen 3.2 but with no success :
extra = ''xencons=tty1, clocksource=jiffies''
I have also tried with tty instead of tty1 but that doesn''t change anything.
Am I missing something ?
Thank you in advance for your help,

tty login hangs
Hi all,
I have two servers both identical in hardware and I have just done a
clean install of CentOS 5.2 x86_64 on both.
Sometimes (more often than not) when I log in at the physical console
(e.g. tty1, tty2, etc.) I will be logged in and it stops responding even
if the shell is not doing anything.
When this happens I can still switch to another VT with alt+f2 and login
as normal.
I don't know if bash, mingetty or whatever process is locking up. If I
do a `ps ax` all processes are sleeping....

xen 3.3.0 etch sources console hangs
I installed xen 3.3.0 on a etch box from sources. I just modified the
standard kernel cause of some hardware drivers. I installed xen-tools
from backports (3.9-3~bpo40+1). To create a domU ist not the problem. I
can connect via ssh and everything works fine. But when i start a domU
with "xm create host.example.tld.cfg -c" to login to console from domU
it hangs after the message

How to give access to /dev/tty
Hello,
First I apologize because I sent this email on the lxc-users mailing
by error. So sorry for the double message.
I'm trying to run an X server inside a container. I was able to
achieve this with lxc-tools (and that is why I mixed myself between the
2 lists) by setting the option lxc.tty = 4 that allows access to 4 tty.
Now I want to use libvirt because my final goal is to
