Variable Bit Rate
Is FLAC a variable bit rate format when streamed? If so, how can it be
truly lossless?

Michael, please do not quote an entire patch just to ask a one line
question.
I truly, truly, wish it was simpler in modern email clients to delete
the unrelated quoted material because I bet when people do this they
are simply being lazy.
Thank you.

truly minimal install
Hello,
we want to distribute our company software as virtual appliances (VMWARE) on
Centos5 .
My question is, which way i will achieve really minimum install (with yum).
So far, i have during install unchecked all packages , then customized
groups and removed everything including base system.
As a result my CentOS install was 800MB , which is still to much for us.
Value around 300 - 400 MB is OK.

truly dynamic real-internet IP
Here's the situation: I have a pre-existing, perfectly function tinc
VPN of 6 nodes. Works like a champ. All the nodes are cable modem
connected linux boxes, with the exception of one static IP elsewhere.
The cable modem dynamic IPs are don't change much, and when they do,
they update an external dynamic DNS service automagically whose
hostnames are referenced in the hosts files.

I do understand there are other plans to do, but this one is truly significant. (PR#8417)
I'm really excited about these deals as we can spend spare cash on a sports
car.
This place can help us customize the perfect plan in a short time.
I learned that we can also (if we want) acquire bucks too.
Turns out that we do not have the most optimal loan, but our home is very
valuable.
I have pored over a lot of websites, and I like this one best. It responds

Truly Global Variables
Hello everybody,
I have a problem that is bothering me for quite a while now and I
don't know the answer... I want to create global variables (out of a
function) which I can access from all other functions... But somehow
that does not work too well. Attached some code for an example:
function_called <- function (){
result = globalvariable*globalvariable
print(result)
}

Usage of p/d/qnorm
...39; primary values
follow a bimodal distribution, which is modelled by a mixture of two normal
distributions:
p * dnorm ((x - u1) / s1) / s1 +
(1 - p) * dnorm ((x - u2) / s2) / s2)
{written like in Venables & Ripley, 2nd Ed., p. 288}. So, the first and
second summand would correspond to truly negative and positive status,
respectively, whereas the test would be termed negative or positive with
respect to a varying x cut off value.
How could one possibly formulate using p/d/qnorm e.g. the specificity:
f(x)= number of positive tests at cut off x / total number of truly
positives ?
Thank...

Homedrive mapping
...been able to map
their home drives to our samba servers.
According to Microsoft's q-article,
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q308580&, "this
behavior is by design".
Is the issue described in the q-article ( cleartext passwords sent to
downlevel servers ) truly the issue? Is there any way to re-enable this
functionality with more modern (2.2.x) versions of samba?
Thanks,

autotoolizing xen?
Hi there!
I was wondering what the general opinion on autotoolizing xen is? I am
volunteering to do so, if there is interest in updating the build system to
use autoconf, automake and/or libtool.
Is one configure script for all of xen enough or do you want to be able to
configure all/some tools separately? I know that Anthony is no fan of
libtool... are there more reservations about some
