Application Design Question
I am designing an application to run a fishing tournament I am
hosting. Each fish entered will be given a point total based on the
length of the fish and the species of fish. Each species has a point
multiplier. For Example Trout have a multiplier of 10 so a 20 inch
Trout would have a score of 200.
My conundrum is in where and when do I calculate the points. The
options I have come up

[PATCH 0/2] Remove troublesome devices when outputting to libvirt
These 2 patches remove devices which can prevent a guest from starting after
conversion if they aren't supported by the target.
This solution isn't ideal. We would preferrably query the target for supported
models and update if necessary, however there's no API for this yet.

Demoting troublesome DC
Hello,
I am running in a duplicate test environment of my work domain.
I have 2 x 4.1 DCs and 2 x 4.7 DCs.
I have transferred FSMO role to #3 and it is replicating to #4 fine.
I have demoted #1 which appeared to go fine and have turned it off.
When I try to demote #2 it fails with the error...

kernel 3.10.0-957.el7.x86_64 + EFI on Dell server - problem
hi guys
I've one box where I just yesterday upgraded Centos. I
wonder if that kernel upgrade process might somewhat
troublesome.
After that upgrade UEFI boot fails with:
Failed to set MokListRT: Invalid Parameter
Something has gone seriously wrong: import_mok_state() failed
: Invalid Parameter
Has anybody seen that? And maybe know to fix it?
many thanks, L.

nouveau regression [bisected] hotplug broken on gf108 since 4.1
Hi All,
I'm having this really weird issue with broken hotplug on a Dell Latitude E6430 with
hybrid gfx, with a gf108 as discrete GPU.
The LCD panel and VGA are connected through a mux to the iGPU, but the HDMI is only
connected to the nvidia dGPU. Plugging in a HDMI monitor when the dGPU is suspend
works fine, the ACPI event fires and everything works as it should.
Unplugging the HDMI

Turn on SIP debugging from DialPlan
The SIP trace will be adequate but this is on a remote system with limited
disk space.
I would love to turn on debugging while making the troublesome calls, then
turn it off afterward.
Tcpdump is great, but starting it and stopping it and keeping all that data
would still be an issue.

Cisco ATA-186 config guide for Asterisk
I really should be doing something better on this beautiful weekend,
but I'm trying to save myself some time for later projects by
documenting some things that have been particularly troublesome in
the past. That being said...
I've written up a configuration guide for the Cisco ATA-186, which
describes some of the features that are possible to set in the ATA
and specifically what

Selectively Removing objects
Dear list members,
Does anyone know how to use rm() to remove only variables but not
declared functions from the environment ?
I understand I could name all the functions with, let's say
"f_something", make sure that all variables do not start with "f_" and
then remove all BUT objects starting with "f_".
However, I have already defined all the functions and it

Turn on SIP debugging from DialPlan
I have some troublesome numbers that I would like to capture the SIP
dialogue when I am calling them. When I am about to dial the number, is
there any way to turn on SIP debugging in the dial plan before I make the
call? (and turn it off after the call is completed?)

log10(), floor() combo issue?
Hi all,
in my search for a nice binary2decimal method, I received this nice
code (thanx to Uwe Ligges):
bindec <- function(b)
sum(as.integer(unlist(strsplit(b, ""))) * 2^(floor(log10(b)):0))
It fails, however, with:
> bindec(1000)
[1] 4
Warning message:

asterisk.org webpage
hi all
for new users, finding asterisk info is unneccesary troublesome. the
asterisk.org page has very little information about the product and
using google for 'asterisk' is like using google for 'linux'. you get
all too many hits that has nothing to do with the product. perhaps the
asterisk.org page at least should point to voip-info.org? or perhaps

Change in behaviour for the "%U" substitution in 4.10.8?
Re: macOS, I was wondering that too, particularly since my Mac is not bound to any domain. But there's a Windows 7 laptop on my desk at the moment which is bound to the same AD domain as the troublesome server and is showing the same symptoms. I'll pick up some log fragments tomorrow, I'm not in the office right now?

boot&table
Hello,
I want to bootstarp a sample, and I need table() for each sample taken,
like if R=100, I need all 100 table(). It seems to mee that boot() works
anly if you assing statistics, that gives you back one number, like
mean. Although the ?boot/statistics says that it can be a vector
containing statistics. table() gives an array, so it might work. Does
anybody have an idea how? I konw it can be

Make Samba4 ignore domain prefix on share logon
Hello,
at my work we are migrating from samba 3.6.24 on gentoo + openLDAP to
Windows Server 2012 AD DC + Samba 4.1.6 Ubuntu Member server for file
sharing. Our old configuration ignores domain prefixes when logging on to
shares i.e. I just need to type user instead of SAMDOM\user when accessing
share from windows machines. The Windows DC behaves like this too, but
samba 4 does not. Is there any

ssh-agent subprocess parentage
I regularly use ssh-agent with a subcommand; my X11 session is spawned
through ssh-agent, and sometimes i'll run a special agent for a certain
subset of commands, like this:
ssh-agent bash
... and then do work within that shell. From the man page:
> If a commandline is given, this is executed as a subprocess of the agent.

Detecting bad lexical scoping
I've recently hunted down a troublesome bug in my own code, and am
looking for an easy mechanism to detect this kind of error in other R
code. The problem was an undefined variable inside of a function.
Unfortunately, R looked for that variable in the global environment
and found it since there was variable with that name in my testing
scripts (note to self: do not name things "x").
