Application Design Question
...a 20 inch Trout would have a score of 200. My conundrum is in where and when do I calculate the points. The options I have come up with so far: 1. Calculate when the fish is entered into the system. This seems like the easiest but if I change the scoring recalculating the scores is a bit troublesome. 2. Calculate when displayed. Seems rather intensive CPU wise and makes doing "Top 10" list rather troublesome. I am leaning towards option 1 but I wanted to ping the community to see if anyone has any brilliant ideas. TIA - Bill

[PATCH 0/2] Remove troublesome devices when outputting to libvirt
These 2 patches remove devices which can prevent a guest from starting after conversion if they aren't supported by the target. This solution isn't ideal. We would preferrably query the target for supported models and update if necessary, however there's no API for this yet. Demoting troublesome DC
Hello, I am running in a duplicate test environment of my work domain. I have 2 x 4.1 DCs and 2 x 4.7 DCs. I have transferred FSMO role to #3 and it is replicating to #4 fine. I have demoted #1 which appeared to go fine and have turned it off. When I try to demote #2 it fails with the error... nouveau regression [bisected] hotplug broken on gf108 since 4.1
...v initialization helpers"), which landed in 4.20 Which functionally makes no changes other then some subtle changes to the initialization order. I've been poking things surrounding this the entire day but no luck. One thing which I did found out, is that I can break the commit before the troublesome commit to behave in the exact same way by commenting out the drm_sysfs_hotplug_event() call from drm_sysfs_connector_add(). One thing to note here is that drm_register_connector has the following at the top: if (!connector->dev->registered) return 0; Before the tr...

Turn on SIP debugging from DialPlan
The SIP trace will be adequate but this is on a remote system with limited disk space. I would love to turn on debugging while making the troublesome calls, then turn it off afterward. Tcpdump is great, but starting it and stopping it and keeping all that data would still be an issue. d On Fri, Feb 17, 2017 at 4:56 PM, Tim Pozar <pozar at lns.com> wrote: > Why not capture the packets with something like tcpdump and run it > throu...

Cisco ATA-186 config guide for Asterisk
I really should be doing something better on this beautiful weekend, but I'm trying to save myself some time for later projects by documenting some things that have been particularly troublesome in the past. That being said... I've written up a configuration guide for the Cisco ATA-186, which describes some of the features that are possible to set in the ATA and specifically what needs to be done to get it working with Asterisk. It's not pretty, it's not HTML, but it'...

Selectively Removing objects
...om the environment ? I understand I could name all the functions with, let's say "f_something", make sure that all variables do not start with "f_" and then remove all BUT objects starting with "f_". However, I have already defined all the functions and it would be troublesome to change all of them to a new name. Any hint ? Thanks Paulo Gustavo Grahl, CFA

Turn on SIP debugging from DialPlan
I have some troublesome numbers that I would like to capture the SIP dialogue when I am calling them. log10(), floor() combo issue?
...object length in: as.integer(unlist(strsplit(b, ""))) * 2^(floor(log10(b)):0) The reason is the combination of floor() and log10(): log10(1000) = 3 ok, but: floor(log10(1000)) = 2 ? Ok, I can live with some floating point inaccuracy, but this seems at least a bit strange, and to me troublesome as it makes the bindec() method fail... I've also tried to force the output of log10(1000) into integer format with floor(as.integer(log10(b))) However, with the same disappointing results... asterisk.org webpage
hi all for new users, finding asterisk info is unneccesary troublesome. the asterisk.org page has very little information about the product and using google for 'asterisk' is like using google for 'linux'. you get all too many hits that has nothing to do with the product. perhaps the asterisk.org page at least should point to voip-info.org? or perhaps...

Change in behaviour for the "%U" substitution in 4.10.8?
Re: macOS, I was wondering that too, particularly since my Mac is not bound to any domain. But there's a Windows 7 laptop on my desk at the moment which is bound to the same AD domain as the troublesome server and is showing the same symptoms. Another question, how can you get frequencies for sample values, like what table() does, but with reference to both the value itself and the corresponding frequencies. I would like to have those values in a matrix with 2 col. It is very troublesome to make it form what table() returns. Thanks for your help! Make Samba4 ignore domain prefix on share logon
...logging on to shares i.e. I just need to type user instead of SAMDOM\user when accessing share from windows machines. The Windows DC behaves like this too, but samba 4 does not. Is there any way to replicate this behavior on the new version? Our users are used to not typing it and it would be quite troublesome to retrain them. Additionally, we have a lot of windows batch files that mount shares that also contain non-prefixed credentials, scattered all around our organization. Thanks for help, Jakub Vesely

ssh-agent subprocess parentage
...xecuted as a subprocess of the agent. > When the command dies, so does the agent. But looking at the process table (and at ssh-agent.c) this isn't what actually happens. It looks like the agent lives on as the subprocess, and the subcommand is execed from the parent process. This has troublesome implications for the agent being able to detect when the command dies, since it can't rely on SIGCHLD handlers. Indeed, check_parent_exists() relies on simply storing the process ID and checking to see whether such a process is signalable. Given that process IDs tend to be relatively small nu...

Detecting bad lexical scoping
I've recently hunted down a troublesome bug in my own code, and am looking for an easy mechanism to detect this kind of error in other R code.
