Updated Asterisk-NL
I have updated the voice prompts (mostly small fixes, but still work left to be done - however, it's usable now, I'd say) and the patch file (to current CVS) for Asterisk-in-Dutch. As far as I can tell, all of the grammar work is now in - if anyone has feedback to share, please do so before I spend lots of time cleaning up the patches so they can be integrated back.

Asterisk in Dutch
I have just completed a set of voice files in Dutch, plus a patch that forces Asterisk to sane (i.e. Dutch ;-)) behaviour when composing dates, times, numbers, etcetera. The current release, 0.0.1, is a sort of pre-release - some known issues have been identified, but I nevertheless would like to have some feedback so we can do a minimum number of polishing rounds. The patch is a bit

Files to short after transfer
...ot update the file. This leaves me with corrupted files at the target side. Now, this does not happen all the time but only for few files. My environment: - rsync 2.6.2 on Tru64 unix 5.1 - I am copying from a local file system to an AFS file system. - My command line: rsync -ruzv /home/TRICS/data/2004/ \ /afs/psi.ch/project/sinqdata/2004/trics/ - The file size is several MB. The files are frequently appended to by our instrument control software. There may be a reading/writing synchronisation problem. - If I delete the file at the target end, a rerun of rsync copi...

It would be nice if samba could be an extra layer of defense. Something perhaps a vfs module could help with..? Anyone with tips, trics, ideas? MJ

*, Fritz!PCI and strange behavior
I'm testing * (CVS-09/16/03-02:07:49 with zaprtc 0.0.1) with Fritz!PCI (chan_capi 0.3.0), and have a couple of funny things - I wonder if anyone else has seen them: - Now and then, * just exits. Until now I had lowish-level verbosity on, so all I saw was 'Executing last minute cleanups'. What can trigger * exits? (in other words, what should I pay attention to when attempting to

application specific passwords
...Cube > http://www.justinbuchanan.com/blog/post/2012/12/02/Application-Specific-Passwords-for-Dovecot-and-Postfix Those articles are interesting, but also rather old. (I realse that this does not neccesarily mean: irrelevant or bad) Is there anone here with some additional notes, ideas, tips, trics on setting up application specific passwords with dovecot with virtual users? We are using samba AD as an authentication backend. MJ

Although not bullet proof, I'd suggest taking periodic snapshots of the Samba share using Btrfs, LVM, ZFS, etc. This will give you a read-only restore point, should clients start misbehaving. With Btrfs you could use the Snapper VFS module to expose the read-only snapshots to clients...

corrupt sam.ldb on a dc
...=scope, attrs=['dn'], controls=controls) root at dc1:~# Has anyone ever had this? On my dc2 everything seems to be fine (although the samba-tool dbcheck is still running) I'm guessing this is fairly serious, but fortunately dc2 is still fine. Has anyone ever experienced this? Tips, trics how to proceed now? Replication doesn't seem to work anymore. I guess that's why my dc2 is still healthy. I hope someone here has some clever do's and don'ts... Regards, MJ

under another kind of attack
Hi Olaf, Since we implemented country blocking, everything seems nicely under control, with only 'normal levels' of knocking. We first have impemented: http://blog.jeshurun.ca/technology/block-countries-ubuntu-iptables-xtables-geoip Then we did: https://github.com/firehol/blocklist-ipsets And finale iptables rules like these: > iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 143 -m geoip

Asterisk behind NAT << How to do it.
Thanks to ww and his patch on bug #104, I have successfully implemented Asterisk behind NAT without using STUN or anything crazy. It's quite straight forward. Until this gets tested enough and put into CVS, you will have to patch your chan_sip.c file to do this. I'm sure within the next few days this will get put merged into CVS if no one finds any problems. I tried this on chan_sip.c
