Getting JPilot working
I am trying to get JPilot working. I have configed gnome-pilot-applet, but it is not talking to the USB connected Treo650. My Treo has my name as the user, so from the applet, I see also a userid (my UID on this system it seems). I try to put that on the Treo and nothing happens. I have enabled the Backup Conduit. I am using /dev/pilot, which shows up when my Treo is connected via its USB syncing cable. In...

OT: MWI on Treo 600/650
My cell vm goes to asterisk, not the carrier. Apparently MWI is turned on/off with specially formatted SMS messages. Anyone know how to do this on a Treo 600? Having the phone light from Asterisk would be HUGE ... not to mention extremely cool. dbc.

IDLE command timeout
Is it possible to change the IDLE command timeout to be more than 30 minutes? I have a client on my PalmOne Treo 600 which will stay in IDLE mode as long as it can. I would like to set the timeout to something much higher than 30 minutes. Maybe several hours or even more. I don't see a configuration setting for this value in "/etc/dovecot.conf". Am I missing something? Thanks, -Sim

Proximity Detection: Motorola Q + Bluetooth + Asterisk
Hi, Can anyone tell me if the Motorola Q has its Bluetooth always on like the IPhone? I want to use the Motorola Q in a Proximity Detection setup like that described on nerdvittles.com. I know the Treo 650 does not work well since the display must be on for the bluetooth to be on and this eats power. Thanks Chuck Bunn

Any Speex plug-ins available for usage in a Palm device application
...created a Pocket PC application, which is a talking phrasebook using .NET Compact Framework. In this application I'm using a 3rd party MP3 plug-in for playing my MP3 files, which I programmatically use within my program. Now I'm planning to create the same application for Palm devices viz Treo 600. I'd really appreciate if someone could provide any information about the similar kind of a plug-in for a Palm device that allows me to play Speex audio files. <p>The reason I've decided to choose speex is because it's patent free and there are no licensing issues involved u...

Capturing audio streams with Linux?
So I got a new Pocket PC this weekend (yes, you read that right, sorry, don't like the Palms on offer currently and I can at least install software on it via Windows on VMWare). One of the main things I wanted to do with it is get Audible.com again and listen to All Things Considered from NPR on the way home like I used to. Now I find out they not only don't have an agreement with Audible

Push IMAP
Hearing that today's new Apple device is going to work with push IMAP from Yahoo, my first thought is to wonder whether an extension might make it possible for a Dovecot server to push its own IMAP in a compatible way. Paul

Dynamic XEN USB usage for Win Guest?
Hi, I am trying to attach a Palm Z22 via USB to my fully virtualized Win XP. Dom0-System: CentOS 5.3 x86_64 (Kernel 2.6.18.128.1.10.el5xen) XEN: 3.0.3-80.el5_3.2 XP: 32-Bit Professional lsusb shows: USB Palm: Bus 002 Device 007: ID 0830:0061 Palm, Inc. Lifedrive / Treo 650/680 / Tunsten E2/T5/TX / Zire 21/31/72 / Z22 I found some hints that I have to put usb = 1 and usbdevice = "host:0830:0061" into my DomU-config. When I start the DomU without the device switched on I get (qemu.log): Warning: could not add USB device host:0830:0061 I/O request n...

I don't think my webmail reader is honoring the Message ID in the header. And I know my Treo doesn't. I'm working on switching to a new webmail interface. I hate it because I have to manually bottom-post. Unfortunately, GMail doesn't honor Message ID well either, so it's no better. I might switch to Yahoo. -- Bryan J. Smith mailto:b.j.smith at ieee.org

Re: opensource backup software suggestions please -- VTL option ...
From: Karanbir Singh <Mail-Lists at karan.org> > Which is a good thing really, since you can snip off the irrelevant bits > on your way down. Yes, I do it. But in my case, I've got to manually cut'n paste and add the greater-than signs. It gets tedious (especially on my Treo). But I do it because I believe in bottom-posting. > Gmail works fine. It sets the In-Reply-To: header. I am sure your move > to a more not-as-much-brain-dead client would be appreciated. Yeah, at least GMail would be better than this account. -- Bryan J. Purging old mails
Hi all, Firstly if this is a FAQ and I've missed it - let me apologise in advance. I use dovecot as a backup mail store and would now like to purge all mails over a certain age. Is it as simple as using find and rm'ing the results or is there more to it? I'm using maildir if that make a difference? Thanks in advance. Daveh

cf gsm adaptors
I know I'm going to get creamed asking this question in here but I'm really starting to feel that Palmone and Treo 650 (or it's successors) just isn't keeping up with my requirements (bluetooth, wifi, document sync etc) for a mobile device I'm starting to think about moving to a mini laptop or ppc solution with an CF GSM card. Does anyone in here have any experience or thoughts? a few li...
