R installation - WINDOWS - problem
...tried simply dl ing R-2.3.1.tar.gz, and unzipping it, but after doing so, nowhere could I find a file called R-2.3.1.exe. I did however find an R-2.3.1.exe.manifest. I therefore tried the command line installation command - given in R-admin.pdf. This command is: tar zxvf R-2.3.1.tgz This is strange because the file I dl'ed was a .tar.gz. I tried this line as well as: tar zxvf R-2.3.1.tar.gz. The command was not recognized. Can anyone help me with this trange problem? Sincerely, Norman Goodacre

pdf, pairs and subfloats
Hi there! I have found a trange problem with getting pairs()-plots to show properly in latex \subfloat environments. If i generate images of these plots with pdf() and include them in subfloats, they will either show up in grayscale, or sometimes the datapoints of the pairplots are missing. Mind you, the PDFs themselves are prop...

quantile() type 1 for some ordered factors in R-devel
Hi, In R-devel (2020-05-17 r78478) quantile() type 1 seems to behave a little bit strange for some ordered factors: quantile(factor(1:3, ordered = TRUE), 0.5, type = 1) returns ?2? as expected. But quantile(factor(2:4, ordered = TRUE), 0.5, type = 1) returns ?4? and quantile(factor(3:5, ordered = TRUE), 0.5, type = 1) returns ?NA?. Furthermore, the function returns ?NA? for calls like q...

Dear R-helpers, this mail is intended to mention a rather trange result and generate potential useful comments on it. Looking standard testing scripts
Hi, I am using OCFS 1.0.11 with RH 2.1 e.30 on two dell servers and Oracle 9.2.0.5. I would like to use Oracle RAC to test some features on our storage array. For example: SCSI Reservations, IO fencing etc. Performance Fail-Over... I am looking for some scripts or procedures that Oracle recommended for doing those kind of functional tests. Please advice and thanks in advance, Roger----

develop multiple apps simultaneously how?
Hi, I am very early into reading the "Agile Web Development with Rails" book, so this will be a very basic question: I tried starting another app simultaneously with the "depot" app, but when I, after creating the database and the stub project try to start the server, it tells me that the port is in use (of course it is, by the depot application!). Can I tell the server
