Direction of panel plots in trellis graphics
Hi,
Using library(lattice), is there any way to tell xyplot to plot
panels top to bottom, then left to right (i.e. panels are appended
vertically, then horizontally). as.table changes the plot direction
from left-to-right then top-to-bottom, to right-to-left then bottom-
to-top, but that's not quite what I want to do.
Thanks

Entering data into a multi-way array?
Hello: I am a novice R user, but I have been working my way through the
manuals / tutorials, ... I have R / Deducer up and running, and know the
basics.
I want to analyze a microarray (gene expression) dataset.
I need to input the data into R as a multidimensional (multi-way) array,
something on the order of
15,000 x 3 x 8 x 2 [genes x replicates x time points x treatments]

Problem With Model.Tables Function
I am using R for the first time in one of my classes. My students have
alerted me to a problem for which we have not found an answer. We find
that some means returned by the model.tables function are not correct when
missing data is present in analysis of variance problems. We have
duplicated the problem using R 1.2.0, 1.2.1, and 1.2.2 under Windows 98
and several distributions of Linux (Redhat

Tomb Raider 4 and wine 0.9.1(DirectX 6.1)
Hi!
I've just installed wine-0.9.1 on my Fedora Core 3 system (Radeon 9600XT
- fglrx-8.19.10).
While TR3(demo) setup & gameplay runs okay, TR4 breaks and gives me this
error output after the setup screen is thru:

reading in file with different row length
Hi all,
I have a file, say, test.txt, which contains the following information.
I'm trying to read in the file and specifying the missing values as NA
so that each column has the same number of rows.
I've tried all sorts of manipulation but to no avail.
r1 r2 r3
1 3
2 3
3 2 3
4 2 3
5 2 3
6 2 3
7 2
8 2
9 2 3
The output should be
r1 r2 r3
1 NA 3
2 NA 3
3 2 3
4 2 3
5 2 3
6 2 3

I am working on an interface between R and the GRASS geographical information

tested
then under R 0.90.1, both by entering example() for each function and R CMD
check, both
of which worked without problem.

regular expressions : extracting numbers
Hello all,
I have a vector of character strings, in which I have letters, numbers, and symbols. What I wish to do is obtain a vector of the same length with just the numbers.
A quick example -
extract of the original vector :
"lema, rb 2%" "rb 2%" "rb 3%" "rb 4%" "rb 3%" "rb 2%,mineuse" "rb" "rb" "rb 12"

Named update for RH 4.2 exploitable?
Someone I was speaking with this evening claimed they have installed the
latest named rpms yet they are still getting exploited daily and being
hacked. Do the latest rpm''s for the named 4.9.x stuff fix all the root
exploits or is this person just an idiot who probably has holes elsewhere in
the system?
