touble with install
I did ./configure make make install I got no errors, but it doesn't seem to have installed everything I need. Swat won't start. It didn't put an smb.conf file in /etc/samba (it didn't even create this folder) or /usr/local/samba/lib/. When I run testparm, I get Segmentation fault as my only output. Even if I create an smb.conf and run testparm on that file I get the exact

Still having touble with Redhat 7.1 and windows 2003 DC authentication.
Hi there I'm still going round in circles trying to get winbindd authentication against a 2003 server working. I have what appears to be the same problem as: http://www.ssite.org/articles/view.aspx?class=2&articleid=2 There's something wrong with the SMB Packet signing on this machine. In parallel, I succcessfully built and have got working samba-devel on FreeBSD 5.1 against the

Netbios Alias
I am trying to setup a Netbois alias that uses it's own smb.conf file. I have made the following changes to the original smb.conf file: netbois alias = TPUB02 include = /usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf.%L For some reason the smb.conf file in the include statement does not work. In touble shooting this issue I was able to hardcode the smb.conf file name in the include statement and that does

[OT?] Lam and tree view...
I see LAM-related announcment here, so i hope i'm not too much offtopic. I use LAM (LDAP Account manager) by many years, previously on OpenLDAP/Samba ''NT mode'' domains, now on AD mode. LAM works as expected in AD mode, but i've noted that i cannot use the ''tree view'' apart pointing it to some sub-OU. EG, if i set as base dn my domain base dn:

self-referencing has_many
Having a devil of a time finding records in a self-referencing has_many table relationship. Everything is working find looking at the has_many and the belongs_to relationship. But, when I try to find all "orphans", records that are neither a parent nor a child, I can not find a query that work in ActiveRecord. This query works in MySQL: SELECT * FROM templates LEFT JOIN templates

LSUB strangeness continued
Hi, I wrote earlier to mention that I am having touble with LSUB command reporting "permission denied' on some accounts and not others that are identical as far as I can see. I am trying various combinations of stuff, so i set up a new IMAP account in Thunderbird that went to one of the accounts I am having trouble with. I was not surprised to get "Server says permission

Syslinux 5.01 does not respond to keyboard
I am having touble using the latest syslinux. I installed it to an SD card and non-interactive booting works fine (using DEFAULT in syslinux.cfg). If I need to give input to syslinux at boot time (via menu, vesamenu or even just the prompt), it ignores keypresses. Syslinux 4.06 does not suffer from this problem. I am running an Acer Aspire One AOA150. The POST screen calls it an Insyde H2OBIOS.

[OT?] W10, SYSTEM, guest access.
Hi Marco, the fact that win 10 fails where access from win 7 succeeds makes me wonder whether it is because of tightened security of windows 10, in particular I suspect disabled smb 1. Thus you should probably not try to make windows 10 succeed the same way but look at your security issue. Lowering the security might actually open an attack vector in your provisioning process. Best Regards,

Samba, AD, 'short' name resolving...
Sorry, i'm getting a bit confused about my new Samba/AD domain, related to the 'short' name resolving. I was clearly (ab)used to Samba/NT, where WINS make, on LAN, ''flat'' resolving very simple. I'm moving now from my old NT domains to my new AD domain, and to prevent massive change i've decided to keep name resolution and DHCP address assigment out of the

Hello, I have tried to install the salted hash login generator by following the quick start guide at: http://wiki.rubyonrails.com/rails/pages/SaltedLoginGeneratorQuickstart.
