Big time system
...me telecom activity.
It would have 2000 to 30,000 user lines per city, and we would like to have
those brought back to a central location for control and because transport
can be more economical than remote site rentals, maintenance and personnel.
We could take the local lines into concentrators (TNTs or equivalent) and
bring back IP to a central site, or put servers at the remote cities.
Our object is to serve as a "central office switch" for subscribers on
standard telco service loops.
This isn't a "How many lines can I handle using a Belchfire 2600 processor?"

nVidia cards have the absolute best support under

driver issue --
if
it was, it was because of some mangled patch that
RedHat applied,
because the driver for nVidia TNTs is used by tens of

56K Dialup and VOIP over same PRIs
Anybody have suggestions on having a 56K dialpool and VOIP
connections with an Asterisk box over the same set of PRIs? We've
done the PM3 with PRIs for just dialup, but are looking for a way to
integrate our Asterisk box and move our voice calls onto the same PRIs.

Residential services
Hi folks,
The obligatory newbie disclaimer:
"Hi, I'm new to Asterisk and I have a couple questions..."
OK, now that that's over with:
I've just started working for a small CLEC, and I'm trying to sell * to
my boss as a replacement for some expensive/inflexible/closed-source
software he's been using to provide residential dialtone with for a
couple years now.

nVIDIA on CentOS 3.3
Hey,
I tried it. The short answer is that nVIDIA cards are
OK for text, but may not work at all under X.
I downloaded the 3.3 ISO's, and burned new CD's. I
did an X desktop install on a test bench P3 600 MHz
system with a 4.3 gig drive. I did the install with a
known-to-work Voodoo Banshee card to get the system
going. I used a Mag DX1495 monitor, which I know does
not to work on

Asterisk High-Capacity Stability
Thanks Alex, some great ideas.
I think, however, I'm leaning towards Asterisk at this point- since I have
quite a bit of experience there, and very little with SER. At this point,
I'm wondering from a dimensioning standpoint, what kind of capacity my
machine will have (Dual Core Xeon 2.4GHz 4GB RAM). As I said, I don't plan
to do any transcoding. I read the voip-info page on

Incoming calls through SS7 for data modem transmissions - possible??
Hello,
We are working on implementing a solution for a medium service provider.
They were previously using a Cisco AS5300 gateway with some PRI trunks to
receive modem calls, then route them out the Internet.
The Telco they were buying the trunks to discovered this configuration and
restricted them due to legal conventions, and stated that in order to
continue doing this, they would have to talk

Asterisk automatic daily restart
To automatically restart Asterisk you can add something like this to cron
# Restart Asterisk PBX once a day to prevent any problems from piling up
10 7 * * * root /usr/sbin/asterisk -rx "restart now" >/dev/null 2>&1
or
10 7 * * * root /usr/sbin/asterisk -r -x "restart gracefully" >/dev/null 2>&1
