Problem with cast {reshape}: Error in match.fun(FUN) : could not find function "Negate"

Help on finding specific columns in matrix
...values and the one that holds the lowest values. In this case the column's mean would be apropriate to use to try to find those specific columns because each columns mean is different and they all change together based on the same "change of rate constants" as a function of time (ie: tme is the most important determinant of the magnitude of that mean).  The columns are not to be named, if possible.... Any thoughts on that? Would apreciate the help....   example:   a <-matrix(c(runif(500,10,15),runif(500,15,20),runif(500,20,25),runif(500,25,30)),ncol=4)   I would need to find and...

Real-Time Encoding/Streaming?
Hey. I'm not sure if this should be here or on -dev, so I'll try here first. I was wondering, would it be possible to have a real-time streaming feed, where you were encoding at the same time, given a sufficiently large computer to do the encoding? I'm thinking about news-wire applications, like if the BBC wanted to use it to stream their World News Wire, at the same time that

time zone issues

TAI is the You mean leap seconds, not leap years. Since 1972, UTC == TAI modulo some number of seconds. Leap Seconds are announced officially by the IERS http://www.iers.org/iers/products/eop/leap.html RFC2822 explicitly refers to "local time" and to UTC. Local (or civil) time is...

Boot load wcfxo does not configure self under Ubuntu 6
When booting Ubuntu 6.06.1 (Linux 2.6.15-27-386), wcfxo would load but not configure. I have three ways to manually force wcfxo to configure: 1) ztcfg, 2) modprobe -f wcfxo, or of course 3) unload and reload wcfxo. Each works equally well. As a workaround, now I have to put ztcfg in rc.local, which Debian doesn't favour. I had compiled the same zaptel under Ubuntu 5.02.0 on two

More mdct questions
Sorry for starting another topic, this is actually a reply to Segher's post on Sun Oct 22 on the 'mdct question' topic. I wasn't subscribed properly and so I didn't get email confirmation and thus can't add to that thread. So Segher, if the equation is indeed what you say it is, then replacing mdct_backward with this version should work, but it doesn't. Am I applying

Best practice in small office
...help in a couple of hard disk crashes. Our new setup is all XP and mainly desktops - about 15 of them with just three laptop users. My thought is to stick with roaming profiles and configure the desktops not to save the profile data - that should let users swap machines if one dies and at the same tme not leave huge chunks of other users' data on the hard disk. Is that a reasonable strategy? Does it make sense to map My Documents to the user's home folder or is there a benefit to bringing their entire profile over the network at the start of the session then copying it back when they lo...

Fraunhoffer claims patents on other formats
Here in the uk, to get a patent on anything, you have to prove that the patent is not obvious and that there is no prior art. If there is prior art, then a patent cannot be given, this is why people patenting stuff have to keep it a secret until they actually have the patent, otherwise it is considered to have been released into the public domain. Once something is in the public domain, nobody

RTP/RTCP payload?
(hello all, this is my first writing. so please bear with me if I'm wrong anywhere.) orry to break too lately, but how is the RTP payload submission is going? could we see the new payload at March IETF? I agree that it would be fairy straightforward to make an RTP payload for ogg vorbis, assuming raw packets, AFAIK. using physical bitstream is, in this case, not adequate by the reasons in

uploading listening samples?
I've been encoding my CD collection with mostely great results. However, there is the oddball that doesn't sound as it should (mostely I get flanging effects on high-frequency sounds like cymbals). I've seen people upload samples and post it here so that the developers might have a look at them. Now I don't have any online space. Is there an ftp site or something I can upload

Multichannel Encoding
I'm a mathematician and programmer working on experimental surround sound techniques. Some of the ideas I'm working on require dozens of channels. These channels are often highly correlated and are very well suited to compression. I'm new to Vorbis. Does it attempt to address such issues? Thanks, --Richard --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project

(that about sums it up) Will encode and play back via an sdp file and multicast on one computer (over the net if you transfer the sdp file over by hand). rc/rtenc3 and src/rtdec3 are in the style of encoder/decoder_example ...so this means you MUST edit it them to suit your system. For example, I specify my rtenc3 to multicast just on eth1 (to avoid pissing off my cable supplier on

Centos 8 minimal install
Hi R C. The resulting installation is smaller than the image that you download through FTP, etc. When I first installed this OS during version 5, I was amazed that the installation took a mere fraction of the time it took to go through the menu. Heh. Anyway, give it a whirl as it?s quick. I?m assuming you mean a headless installation. Oh and I?m top posting because it?s logical.

Dovecot create mbox files. But why?
Hi there, my dovecot is now running normaly, but there is a small problem.... We want to to use the maildir format at the mailstorage. But the imap part of dovecot creates the for mbox specific files, but why? I created a passwd-file for a testuser. At this tme, there is only on line: test2 at dev2.abc.de:ujAN28k8.5zV2:99:99:*:*:*:* in dovecot.conf are these interesting lines: auth_userdb = static uid=99 gid=99 home=/vrmd/pop3imap/links2mailboxes/%u/Maildir auth_passdb = passwd-file /vrmd/mailin/conf/pop3imapdb.passdb.txt I think, if a path ends o...
