Asterisk forum created
I saw several threads requesting an Asterisk forum to complement the email list. i.e. http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-dev/2004-February/003103.html I recently created an Asterisk forum within TMC's popular VoIP forums for everyone to use. http://voip-forum.tmcnet.com/voip-forum/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=15 <http://voip-forum.tmcnet.com/voip-forum/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=15> Google has this forum ranked #2 for keyword "asterisk forum", so it should draw plenty of traffic. It doesn't require registration to post, so you can st...

Astricon talk on wideband codecs
I missed the talk that was given on wideband codecs @ astricon last week. I tried to lookup the speaker on astricon.net, but that website seems horribly broken at the moment, showing only a tmcnet video, whatever page i click on. Would somebody have the contact details for that speaker ? Greetings, Zoa

MOS Scores and LCR
Is there any tool that can do LCR for Asterisk but also take into account MOS scores? Is it possible to automatically generate MOS scores on random "calls" so as to keep an updated database on a per provider, per destination, per time-of-day score? Hopefully, with that information we can create a better LCR module or script? Thanks, Daniel

Who would use Asterisk SS7?
...N? I know in at least one or two markets the monthly cost of 2 A-links is closer to $1800/month. I cannot verify any of the other costs in the model above, but they seem about right. Can anyone provide a similar PRI versus SS7/IMT cost model for any other parts of the world? [1] http://www.tmcnet.com/articles/ctimag/0998/featureBay.htm TIA, -- Mike M.

New-ish list of hardware phone vendors
This is a fairly large list of hardware phones, features, and URLs, with some vendors I've never heard of before on it. I suspect that any phone that doesn't explicitly say "SIP" is an H.323 phone. http://www.tmcnet.com/it/0403/0403sg.htm#sidebar2 JT

Asterisk with Vonage
I know Vonage doesn't officially have a "bring your own device" type program, but they do offer a softphone. Has anyone gotten Asterisk to connect directly to Vonage? This would be a great help!! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Digium Asterisk World at ITEXPO - Yahoo keynote update
...f a technology. (Enterprise tends to move in herds.) There are large numbers of Enterprise users of Asterisk, but it's always great to get a "name-brand" company who can be offered as a proponent of Asterisk. Again, hope to see all of you there in Miami next week! http://www.tmcnet.com/voip/conference/ JT --- John Todd email:jtodd at digium.com Digium, Inc. | Asterisk Open Source Community Director 445 Jan Davis Drive NW - Huntsville AL 35806 - USA direct: +1-256-428-6083 http://www.digium.com/

Just Take dCAP at Astricon?
Since it is Saturday evening (7PM EST) I am asking this on the list in case someone who knows sees it and can answer. Astricon is in my back yard for the first time, and I could hit you with a rock. I would always like to attend, and spoke at the 2007 Astricon in Phoenix but don't have the idle cycles. Question: Can I just go to Astricon and take the dCAP exam only? In and out? Cost? I

Interesting observation
I have an interesting observation which I thought I'd pass along to save other people from spending time trying to 'fix' it. One of my clients uses Charter's so called "business phone service". They provide 'analog' phone lines over IP. In general, they've worked OK. End users were saying that the phone are "cutting out" at times. What

Is Asterisk really good??
So this is just a general question, Is Asterisk really good? Reliability? Functionality? Customization's? I am coming from a Nortel world, were you pay for everything, and you can't delve into the software. But it seems that customization would be a great thing. Like, setting up a war-dialer to customer lists, incoming/outgoing faxes (that's possible with Asterisk, right?) and
