problems with groff
...ould this be happening, and how can I fix this - the man subsystem
hasn't been working because of this for a while. This is
FreeBSD-4.9-Prerelease:
# gdb man man
GNU gdb 4.18 (FreeBSD)
This GDB was configured as "i386-unknown-freebsd"...(no debugging symbols
found)...

And when I go to run a manpage, I sometimes get this error:
# man troff
Formatting page, please wait...troff: fatal error: can't find macro file
tty-char
Done.
But clearly tty-char is in:
# ls -l /usr/share/tmac/tty-char.tmac

Man pages
I've noticed that the man pages provided in the tarball do not work on
Solaris - the output is not formatted as expected. On a linux box it is
possible to view the man pages using nroff -mdoc ./sshd.8, where
prepended file is /usr/lib/groff/tmac/tmac.doc. There does not appear
to be an equivelent macro file on Solaris 2.6. Does anybody know how I
can get the man pages to display properly on Solaris. Thanks

instance variables in templates
Hey all,
Well... hmm... feeling pretty stupid here...
For some reason my controller instance variables are not displaying
in my templates. I''ve boiled it down to this test case.
class Rss::FilmController < ApplicationController
def display
@time = Time.now
end
end
and the template:

direct assignment of PCIe virtual function to domU
Hi all,
I have been using Xen for a couple of weeks now.
So far, I could run domU with direct access to the NIC using late
binding method.
This way NIC is giving a throughput close to that of native linux
system.
Now I would like to know whether Xen supports the direct assignment of
PCIe virtual function to domU.
If yes, how could I do this?
Thanks and Regards,
Masroor

Problem with openssh-2.3.0p1 man pages on Compaq Tru64 4.0
Hi
The man pages don't format properly on Tru64 unix for portable openssh.
They come out as a solid lump of text. I managed to fix the problem by
including the line
.so /usr/local/share/groff/tmac/tmac.andoc
(I have GNU groff installed)
In the man pages. It appears the OSF -man option on nroff doesn't format
the pages correctly.
Thanks
Jeremy

openssh-2.5.1p1 etc
Hi,
Is there an easy way to "fix" the man pages to work with Solaris.
Solaris uses the "an" ie /usr/share/lib/tmac/an nroff macros and I guess
openbsd doesnt!!
cheers

Man pages on HPUX (and others?)
HPUX doesn't seem to ship with a set of troff macros that can handle the
OpenSSH manpages. Maybe other OSs have this problem?
Rather than sodding about with the tmac/ directory, I think we should do
one of two things:
1. Ship a set of preformatted manpages, and either auto-install them in
$prefix/man/cat{1,1m} or just have instructions in INSTALL to do so
2. Recommend users install groff ;-)
Neither is great, but as things stand right now HP users get garb...

having trouble booting Xen-3.1 on X86_64 Fedora Core 8 install
Hi:
Any hints/pointers welcome. I am very new to Xen, I have a AMD "AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+" based system on which I am running X86_64 Fedora Core 8. I have installed Xen-3.1 on it, but I can''t get Xen to boot. It seems unable to find the root volume, the kernel panics and reboots immediately so I can''t capture or write down anything and I

manpage/groff failure, build world failure (noc 'ascii' device)
...ar Sirs.
After Upgrading and installing FreeBSD 5.1-R-p2 from FreeBSD 4.8 (completely
fresh installation!) I can not do any manpages and can not do a make world
anymore.
Man pages would work when setting up an exported environment variable
export GROFF_FONT_PATH=/usr/share/groff_font
export GROFF_TMAC_PATH=/usr/share/tmac
and appropriate in csh.
I searched the mailing list and found a lot of stuff in the past years
concerning this fault but the solutions (reinstallation of groff) does
not work anymore in 5.1 due to the change of the source code path
(old: /usr/src/usr.bin/groff, doing a make...

xen 3.2.1 + intel quad core + 8gigs of ram + linux
Hi!
Anyone have a suggestion which version of Linux would be the best host?
We typically use Ubuntu but we are flexible since we want the best
performance and the least amount of headaches getting it installed and
working.
Thanks,
Jimmy

Default Date storage 0000-00-00?
So I have a database of orders more or less.(it is currently in the
process of being upgraded to mysql with a rails fronted, from OLD
Paradox database) On one page I made a ''create new order'' system. This
allows me to put in the due date and other info. However I wanted to put
in the default value of ''0000-00-00'' for the shipped date, as it hasn''t
