iHEADS UP: ipsec packet filtering change

Being new to IPSec, I started by setting up a gif tunnel (without
IPSec) between my singly-homed host, fred, running FreeBSD:
ep0 192.168.0.2/24
gif0 ${mynet}.27 -> ${mynet}.17
tunnel 192.168.0.2 -> 192.168.0.1
and a dual-homed host, bob, running NetBSD:
tlp0 ${mynet}.24/28
tlp1 192.168.0.1/24
gif0 ${mynet}.24 -> ${mynet}.27
tunnel 192.168.0.1 -> 192.168.0.2
I did this so I could test the tunneling and the firewalling, and then
introduce IPSec after I knew all that was working. Fred's firewall at
this point would pass...

Multi-IP question

I have tried adding the following in my smb.conf:
remote announce = 192.168.1.255 192.168.2.255
which didn't seem to work.
I also tried adding
interfaces = tlp1 tlp2
which also didn't seem to work (the i/fs are detected in order during
boot as sip0 - the 192.168.0.x subnet, tlp0, tlp1 and tlp2).
I can ping, telnet, ftp, use ssh, etc over the interfaces, so the
connection is good, and all the Windows clients are set up identically.
I can also use smbclient at the samba machine to login to the server via
localhost to see the shares. If I use nmblookup -B server __SAMBA__,...
