PXELinux + Altiris + Tivoli.
Hello All.
I have few networks with Tivoli Provision Manager (http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/downloads/tiv/pmfos/?S_TACT=105AGX28&S_CMP=TRIALS ), Altiris (http://www.symantec.com/business/deployment-solution) and WDS (on W2008Stdx32).
I successfully expand WDS functionally with pxelinux (4.03).I really like how pxelinux working.

Samba & Tivoli Storage Mgr (TSM) Integration Query ???
All,
Can anyone confirm that Samba/Solaris will integrate with TSM (Tivoli
Storage Manager) when deployed into a Wintel client environment.
ie. Solaris/Samba as a TSM client
- we need to be sure that the ACL's will be maintained correctly via a
TSM backup/restore (full or partial)
Or confirm this does not work, which is not what we want to hear - but
the truth wi...

Problem using Tivoli Provisioning Manager for OS deployment on XEN VMs
...instream OSes, but it is nevertheless supposed to work
according to the specs. VMWare and Hyper-V handle that properly, and more
recently KVM supports that as well.
Is there already a patch available to apply to XEN to fix this issue ?

WINS capabilities
I have set up SAMBA on AIX 4.2 and can attach to NT shares and vice versa. I
acquired and configured SAMBA for basically one reason, that being to gain
WINS client capabilities for AIX. Right now it's not working as expected,
though.
I am implementing Tivoli, and Tivoli requires a bidirectional name to address
resolution in order to register the managed node agent with the Framework. I
can easily gain that resolution on the managed node with a hosts file that
includes my Tivoli servers. From the server to the desktop is another
matter. I've...

Seeing the IP addresses of domUs from dom0
Using a default xen3.0.1 setup for dom0(rhel4 distro) and domUs (gentoo,
rhel4, centos4.2 distros, ttylinux) with the domUs all having dhcp
turned on, is there an easy way to tell from within the dom0 what ip
addresses were assigned to the domUs after bootup?

[LLVMdev] XMas Cambridge LLVM Social
Hi guys,
We're doing a special XMas social next week (12th Dec), same time,
same pub (Tivoli) and same time. Why special? No idea, just because
it's December.
Anyway, not many people will come, we know, but we're going to go
anyway, since the beer is cheap and we have nothing better to do on a
Wednesday evening. Oh, and folks have discounts on beer, to make them
even cheaper.

Enable XAT_OFFLINE extended attribute in Samba
My goal is to use the Offline file attribute of Windows when sharing
with Samba:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/api/system.io.fileattributes?redirectedfrom=MSDN&view=netframework-4.7.2
It works when I share ZFS filesystem using the native ZFS CIFS sharing,
but it fails when I share the same ZFS with Samba, that is the Offline
files are not showed in Windows Client

Using TSM to back-up glusterfs
Hi
We have been trying back-up a glusterfs (v3.1.4) area using

Version download problem?
Trying to download the 3.1 iso's of CentOS and no matter which mirror I go to, or release 3 version, I always see the 3.6 iso's.
URL: http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/pub/linux/distributions/centos/3.1/isos/i386/
Shows all of the 3.6 iso files.
Some reason why I can't find the older release files?

[LLVMdev] Next Cambridge LLVM Social
Hi all,
A bit ahead of schedule, I want to announce the next LLVM social on the
21st October (Wed), because it'll be on a different place:
The Tivoli, Chesterton Road
http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/home/pubs/the-tivoli
It's not as close to the train station as The Cambridge Blue, but it's not
too far either. David Chisnall tells me it's a much nicer pub, and much
cheaper than the Blue, (and much closer to his house).
If you have an...

[LLVMdev] Cambridge LLVM Social (new place!)
Just a reminder, the Cambridge LLVM Social is this Wednesday, 7:30pm
at the The Tivoli, Chesterton Road:
http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/home/pubs/the-tivoli
This pub is a bit further away from the train station, but has been
highly praised by David, so if you don't like it, blame him. If people
are interested in coming pre-Christmas, we can try a fancier pub in
December (but th...

samba 4 DC slow users bulk load
...t i am facing some performance problems during users bulk loading.
my environment:
1st DC: RedHat Linux v6.4,samba 4.1rc4,dns 9.9.3P2,ntp
2nd DC:RedHat Linux v6.4,samba 4.1rc4,dns 9.9.3P2,ntp
3rd DC:RedHat Linux v6.4,samba 4.1rc4,ntp
to bulk load the users (around 20.000 accounts) i am using IBM Tivoli
Identity Manager to automatically create the AD accounts into Samba
but the performance is poor. 120 users per hour at most.
Any ideas what to check or what needs to be tuned?
Thanks for your time

Sync of samba passwords between two UNIX samba servers possible?
...(detailed)?
If not? Is there an alternative setup method which avoids the duplication
of password changing at every stage.
I can't really muck around with the NT password system as this is administered
by another department and the same goes for the UNIX password propagation,
which is done by Tivoli.
Any useful reponse and tips to this problem would be welcome.
Cheers

Syslinux 6.03 released (Ady)
Ady,
This sounds interesting. I know PXE and related DHCP options
somewhat well. But I don't recognize this.
Typically, you add PXE-related options to your DHCP server.
Either your main DHCP server, or a proxy DHCP server you stand up.
To a lesser extent, some smarter TFTP servers (like Tivoli
or Rembo) can parse vendor-encapsulated options. They take different
actions according to the option's values.
I'm not following how pxelinux parses or has support for DHCP
options.
What is this proposed feature?

LDAP and DSML
All,
does anyone use the Oasis DSML standard? It''s a mapping between standard
LDAP/LDIF operations and data structures to XML. There are some Java
tools that handle DSML. I just saw a requirement for accessing an LDAP
server by a service that requires results encoded in DSML, so I thought
I''d better add this support to the Net::LDAP library.
Is this of interest to any of
