Lockups since upgrade 1.2.3 - anyone else? Any ideas?
Boy oh boy. This blows. I upgraded to 1.2.2 from 1.0.9, and of course had
the timebomb bug. Immediately after upgrading to 1.2.3 we were ok, for 24
hours or so.
Since upgrading to 1.2.3, though, the whole system has locked up twice. Once
on Thursday, and then about a half hour ago. The server would reply to a
ping, but no ssh login, no local console login - just locked up. This ain&...

Asterisk itself is ok, but the isdn then rings out or busys out on the

Outgoing works fine, this only seems to effect incoming.
I updated to chan-capi_cm 0.6.3 but there is no change.
Noticed this when trying to update for the timebomb bug.
I think it is somehow related to the dial command but I'm not certain.
Has anyone else experienced such oddness?

(OT) Novell Community Offer; CentOS LUG; VMWare
There was some interest in the IRC channel on the latest
Novell offering to the trade. This is interesting as it
contains a full non-timebombed VMWare instance, in addition to
the Novell technical offerings mentioned in the E-Mail below.
Novell has announced a renewal of their periodic DVD sampler
program -- feel free to indulge.
Additionally, there was a offer some months directly from
VMWare, to sell full current license electroni...

Chan capi failing post build 8015, possible causes?
...so, I do not have enough experience to reverse the effects of build
8016 only, and jump to a higher build without the diffs.
This is on a debian test system, with gcc 3.3.5.
I am willing to try this on another distro, but would need advice on
which direction to go.
I finally patched 8015 for the timebomb fix, so now I can have proper
dates.

Asterisk intrusion detection/prevention, georgaphic IP banning, etc. (new software)
...is finishing alpha testing (no memory leaks, won't crash your system, etc) - so should be safe (with regular beta disclaimer of course). It's written entirely in C and C++ so it does not consume a lot of system resources.
For you, you can keep and run the software as is, forever, etc (no timebombs etc), and you get to steer the product features to meet you (or your customers) needs. While this product targets call centers, ITSP's etc. there will also be a free home/non-commercial version. You would be testing free software, with all features, no limitations, etc.

Possible Filesystem Corruption with Samba 3.0.25a (with XFS and LVM)
...peculiar thing is, that the info that was written on top of
/dev/hdb3 contains the filepaths of /storage, so I'm betting it had
something to do with Samba, which at the time was actively dealing
with /storage. It was a conservative home machine, so I'm pretty
confident to rule out man-made timebombs.
Thank you in advance for any helpful replies!
Hopefully I/we can find the cause of this, because I'd take a dead
actuator any day over overwritten data -- easier to restore :)

Firefox addons disabled - temporary fix
The currently available fix for Firefox doesn't work with ESR, but there's a temporary fix that works. At least, it's working for me:
Go to about:config and set xpinstall.signatures.required to false.
The Firefox folks say that a fix for ESR will be coming at some point, but at least this gets things working again in the short term.
It's not clear to me if the fixed ESR (when

Well I'm able to get Steam running fine, however I've tried to play the following:
Team Fortress 2
Left 4 Dead
Counter-strike Source
Portal
When I try to launch Source based games the screen goes black and then it resizes the resolution to something like 1024x600.
I am able to get the Left 4 Dead intro movie to play with this script:

htb: class 10007 isn''t work conserving ?!
I''m getting the following error/warning at some point in my config

htb: class 10007 isn''t work conserving ?!
I [think I] understand that htb is a non-work-conserving qdisc, and I
[think I] have configured things so that every htb qdisc I instantiate
limits the bandwidth, so I don''t understand why this

Here is the third version of memory hotplug support
