Dear List,
I am a little unsure how to structure my model and was after some advice. I am a little unsure if this question is appropriate for this list, if it is not please just delete and accept my apologise.

Threaten warnings while compiling Samba 2.2.7a on Solaris 2.5.1
I get warning messages while compiling samba 2.2.7a on Solaris with
Sun cc 4.2
- assignment type mismatch
- argument #1 is incompatible with prototype
- initializer does not fit or is out of range: -1
Must I change variables type in source code to fit what is guessed by
the compiler ?
Is source 2.2.7a not compatible with Solaris 2.5.1 ?
Thank you for your help.

predict.lrm ( Design package)
Dear List,
I am familier with binary models, however i am now trying to get predictions from a ordinal model and have a question.
I have a data set made up of 12 categorical predictors, the response variable is classed as 1,2,3,4,5,6, this relates to threat level of the species ( on the IUCN rating).
Previously i have combined levels 1 and 2 to form = non threatened and then combined 3-6 to

It seems it is their policy not to answer.
FYI info I tried to get an account with them a week ago. I did not get
any information how to setup, just that they cashed my credit card.

Patent troubles...
Hi everyone.
Reading all this posts about patent issues, I thought of something:
if, by some wild chance FhG (or some other audio company) manages
to prove in court that vorbis is breaking their patent rights, you could
do something like LAME developers did: release only source code and
let people do the compiling so that only users that are living in countries
where patents on algorithms are

OT: Is randomization for targeted cancer therapies ethical?
Hi Folks:
**Off Topic**
Those interested in clinical trials may find the following of interest:
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/19/health/research/19trial.html
It concerns the ethicality of randomizing those with life-threatening
disease to relatively ineffective SOC when new "biologically targeted"
therapies "appear" to be more effective. While the context may be new,
the debate, itself, is not: Tukey wrote (or maybe it was talked -- I
can't remember for sure) about this about 30 years ago. I'm...

ZFS on Linux in production?
We are a CentOS shop, and have the lucky, fortunate problem of having
ever-increasing amounts of data to manage. EXT3/4 becomes tough to
manage when you start climbing, especially when you have to upgrade, so
we're contemplating switching to ZFS.
As of last spring, it appears that ZFS On Linux http://zfsonlinux.org/
calls itself production ready despite a version number of 0.6.2, and

Crackers?
Hi,
just wishing you a merry christmas and happy new year, by presenting to
you a new trojan for Linux. It`s professionally made by Apple Computer
Inc. (must be somebody who threatened them to do it).

To find out you're IP that you're coming from, use www.whatismyip.com it
will tell you what you're IP is. Either that or who -l should show you
