heatmap with levelplot
Hi there, I'd like to create a heatmap from my matrix with a) a defined color range (lets say from yellow to red) b) using striking colors above and below a certain threshold (above = "green", below = "blue") Example matrix (there should be a few outliers generated...) + simple levelplot without outliers marked: library(lattice) my.mat <- matrix(rnorm(800), nrow = 40) threshold <- c(-1,1) # should be used for the extreme colors colorF...

subset question
I have a data set p1982, its structure is the following Then I take 20 observations from this dataset, and assign to pr. in p1982, p has 1982 levels, in dataset pr, p should have 1 levels. But I do str(pr), it shows that p still has 1982 levels. also for these > pr$aa [1] ARG THR ASP CYS TYR ASN VAL ASN ARG ILE ASP THR THR ALA SER CYS LYS THR ALA LYS Levels: ALA ARG ASN ASP CYS GLN GLU HIS ILE LEU LYS MET PHE PRO SER THR TRP TYR VAL it seems pr$aa don't have level GLU, but it list this level. I don't understand this, Is there some reason for these? thanks,...

Creating dataframe of all possible variable combinations
Hello, I need to create a dataframe containing all possible combinations of three variables: SITE (101,102,103,104), WDAY (MON,TUE,WED,THR,FRI), and TOD (MORN, AFTN). There should be a total of 40 unique combinations in my dataframe. I used expand.grid() successfully(?) to create my dataframe, but then when I went to order it by SITE, the resultant dataframe only contained fou...

Likely cause of error (code=1) in compar.gee/gee
...in R version 2.2.0 on a Windows XP PC. I'm looking to model the relationship between a continuous explanatory variable and a binary response variable for 600 species, taking into account the phylogeny of those species. Here's an example of the code used: model.range<compar.gee(DS2$thr.vs.non.thr~DS2$log.range,family="binomial ",phy=pruned.di.tree,scale.fix=FALSE) (where "DS2$thr.non.thr" is a binary response variable, and "DS2$log.range" is a continuous explanatory variable). When I run the function, a model summary is produced, but so is followin...

increase thr range in R
Hello Everybody in order to get some needed results out of my function i need to get my besselI function evaluated at some values which normally gave Inf or 0 (expon.scaled NAN) back. So I would like to increase the range in R from approxamittly 1e+320 to aabout 1e+500 or something like that. Is there any possibility or pacckage to do this easily? Thank You Sebastian Kaiser Institut for Statistics
