OpenSSH 3.6.1p1 AIX installp/bff packages available.
Hi All. New AIX packages of OpenSSH 3.6.1p1 are available for download at [1]. There are two tarballs, one for the as-distributed code and one with the password expiration patch. Each tarball contains binaries for AIX 4.x and AIX 5.x. The usual caveats apply (see page). These packages have been more popular than I ever thought they'd be. They are about to clock up the one thousandth

99.9% uptime
Sorry, forgot to change the subject on my first posting. I was reading a comment this morning about something Microsoft had published to the effect that there were vendors guaranteeing 99.9% uptime for NT. The guy who wrote the reply did the math for what that means, and the results are very interesting. Quote below: OK, now what does a 99.9% uptime guarantee mean? Well, it means that at

MLE, precision
Hi, everyone I am trying to estimate 3 parameters for my survival function. It's very complicated. The negative loglikelihood function is: l<- function(m1,m2,b) -sum( d*( log(m1) + log(m2) + log(1- exp(-(b + m2)*t)) ) + (m1/b - d)*log(m2 + b*exp(-(b + m2)*t) ) + m1*t - m1/b*log(b+m2) ) here d and t are given, "sum" means sum over these two vairables. the parameters

I am then subsequently reloading these saved objects, and using predict.glm on them in order to make predictions about single-row data frames that are generated in real-time from requests arriving at an HTTP server. The following code demonstrates the sort of R calls that I have in mind: > cases

New Mailing list *** R-package-devel -- User R Packages Development *** At last week's monthly meeting, the R foundation has decided to create a new mailing list in order to help R package authors in their package development and testing. The idea is that some experienced R programmers (often those currently helping on R-devel or also R-help) will help package authors and thus unload

smbclient feature request
Dear all, because I don't know if there is some kind of xmessage under Sun's Solaris, I made a little ksh script which, by now, only notifies me when a filesystem has reached a certain %-use using smbclient -M. Because I'm thinking of some other implementations, my question/feature request: is there any way of putting some other buttons on the notification window that smbclient
