trouble with ferdora core 5 with samba
I installed the latest version of Ferdora Core 5 with samba. The
installation of Ferdora is fine, and I can see the shares I have set
up on my Win XP Pro machine. But, there is a problem with the
rights. I have made the files on the linux box 777, but I can still
not write to the files. It is as though the files are still read
only, even though they should be read/write. I am also having

PATCH: virtio_console: Fix poll blocking even though there is data to read
Hi All,
I found this while working on a Linux agent for spice, the symptom I was
seeing was select blocking on the spice vdagent virtio serial port even
though there were messages queued up there.

DMARC test (request)
Hi Gene:
Everything that comes from the list goes to my spam folder
because the message looks as spam to yahoo.
why is not the list sending the message as coming from the list e-mail account????
that's why Yahoo flags the messages as spam...
Thanks,
Patrick

A simple filter resolves this:
Deliver to "Inbox" if

AD order of installation
I don't see the following at
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_Active_Directory_Domain_Controller
There is an 'order' of installation for an AD. Some things must come
before others, some things can come when you may. Here is my take based
on what I have learned over the past weeks:
OS installation (listed for completeness, even though this is a 'dah' item).

Ubuntu Jaunty samba 3.3.2 print$ no write rights even though I do
I finally fixed my problem by removing samba completely removing samba and reinstalling it. What I discovered is it appears to be an issue with rights. When I reinstalled samba the /var/lib/samba had rights like this.
drwxrwxr-x+ 5 root root 4096 2010-01-11 23:27 samba
On my original install where the 5 is it was a 6. After the reinstall the rights the rights on /var/lib/samba was reset to 5

Accessing files though samba and efficient copy
A while back I tried to come with a solution to a problem - updating an application
(consisting of a large number of files) which is accessed though a samba server.
The problem was that when updating a file which is open / in use in windows,
Bad Things (tm) happen. Unix allows such update "behind windows's back", and
when windows tries to open this file again, it discovers this is

Debugging slow apache server?
hello,
i'm using an apache server to host 8 virtual hosts.
even though this server is local.. 7 out of these 8 virtual hosts open extremly slow..
it takes around 10 seconds to open a page..
though the 8th (which is a completely different site) it opens fairly fast in around 1 or 2 seconds tops..
i tried tailing the error_log and i found nothing ..
is there a way i could monitor wht each

That's quite likely. I can reproduce this issue with llvm 6.0 though. I'll try with svn HEAD.

Ubuntu Jaunty samba 3.3.2 print$ no write rights even though I do; -)
Initially when I posted my access problems to print$ I was using the new registry based smb.conf I had my whole configuration in the registry. Now I move my printers and print$ back to the text based smb.conf and I copied the standard ubuntu debian [printers] and [print$] out of the original ubuntu package smb.conf and the only modification that I made was under the [print$] I change read only to

pass-though Intel gpu int o a vm
Greetings,
I have a server that run a vm with several nic pcie cards as pass-though.
the board has an intel gpu and the hdmi output is not used.
I thought of booting up another vm and pass the gpu into it.
I found several discussions on the subject stating that it isn't possible but all of them are several years old.
I wonder if that has changed? is there a way to pt the vga to a vm?
Thanks,

return (x+1) * 1000
I'm not thinking of complicated cases.
This happened to me in a function that returns 10 minute slots
slot <- function (seconds) {
return (seconds %/% 600) * 600
}
Obviously I found the issue while debugging and corrected my code with
surrounding parenthesis, but I was surprised that the R parser did not catch
this syntactic error.
This is especially poignant when we have to
