Strange entry inthe log when using encrypted passwords
Hello, I want to set up my Samba-servers to use encrypted passwords (smbpasswd). First I enabled "Update Encrypted" to set the correct password and then I disabled "Update encrypted" and enabled "encrypted passwords". When I map up a share from the client everything is working ok, but in the log I have the following: [1999/11/09 21:37:10, 1] smbd/password.c:(532)

2.3.1 Replication is throwing scary errors
Hey all, almost 48h ago I upgraded both my instances to 2.3.1 again to see if the new patches would fix the replication issues for me. So far, the result is: great. I haven't been able to provoke any kind of I/O stall or persisting queued/failed resync requests in my replication setup. Newly added users are replicated instantly upon the first received mails and the home directory gets

Experiences with WINS-Migration NT -> Samba ?
Hi all, I'd like to replace an old NT-wins server by a linux box with samba and I'm wondering how long it will take for the wins-table on the linux machine to get filled up from scatch (the size of the net is of order 1000 machines). Does anyone have *real-life* data/experiences of such a migration ? Any tipps or hints ? Is there a way/tool to convert the (Windows) Wins-DB into the

2.3.1 Replication is throwing scary errors
Hey all, I've been affected by these replication issues too and finally downgraded back to 2.2.35 since some newly created virtual domains/mailboxes weren't replicated *at all* due to the bug(s). My setup is more like a master-slave, where I only have a rather small virtual machine as the slave host, which is also only MX 20. The idea was to replicate all mails through dovecot and

dovecot sha512-crypt database storage
Hello, I've got dovecot authenticating to a MySQL database. I've got a field varchar(128) called password. Whenever I create a password I use doveadm pw as in: doveadm pw -s sha512-crypt now i'd like to get MySQL to make a dovecot-specific password. My goal is to eventually have roundcube's password plugin working with this MySQL database to change the password. Thanks. Dave.

doveadm: problem listing shared mailboxes using a wildcard
I'm setting up a dovecot server with private and shared namespaces. My test setup has these mailboxes: # /bin/doveadm mailbox list -u fdl01 at spike.test INBOX/sub01 shared shared/sammel01 at spike.test shared/sammel02 at spike.test INBOX In order to do some post-login scripting foo I'd like to get a list of shared mailboxes the user is currently subscribed to. The doveadm-mailbox man

dovecot sha512-crypt database storage
Hi, Thanks. That query doesn't return any parse errors but it does say that it can't save the password. Any ideas? Thanks. Dave. 2.3.1 Replication is throwing scary errors
Hi, Checking in - this is still an issue with 2.3-master as of today (2.3.devel (3a6537d59)). I haven't been able to narrow the problem down to a specific commit. The best I have been able to get to is that this commit is relatively good (not perfect but good enough): d9a1a7cbec19f4c6a47add47688351f8c3a0e372 (from Feb 19, 2018) whereas this commit:

doveadm: problem listing shared mailboxes using a wildcard
You might need to quote that last argument, otherwise it can get interpreted by the shell as globbing, which obviously is not what you want. I've been using wildcard arguments enclosed within '' and "" for various doveadm commands without issues so far. Reproducible SIGSEGV when Dovecot 2.3 compiled against glibc-2.28
Hey, you mentioned that dovecot builds fine, but does "make check" also complete successfully with a glibc-2.28 build on a glibc-2.28 system? We have been seeing segfaults during "make check" and it seems the following patch was able to make the testsuite run successfully. Just out of curiosity, could you try this patch and see if this fixes the issues you're

There were numerous fixes in the 2.3 series regarding replication, especially with respect to sieve replication. I

Sieve scripts replication not working
Hi all! I am a long-time dovecot user/admin on my home server, but only recently tried to configure replication. Everything seems to work except sieve scripts replication. When I upload new one on the server A, it does not replicate to server B, even if it seemingly tries to, according to debug logs. The log antry says: Replication requested by 'sieve_storage_sync_transaction_begin',
