Rpm builders: Dovecot spec file
Maybe best asked to Axel... I'm re-building my server from scratch (the old one was MDK 10.1 -> Mandriva 2006.0 with Postfix/Courier) and I want to install the latest versions postfix/mysql/postfixadmin/dovecot/squirrelmail. I've been building Dovecot (and postfix) from tarballs/srpm in the past so I know more or less how it all fits together. But I wonder if 'old' patches

pigeonhole: naming and versioning
...for these questions/clarifications are that Angel and I are packaging dovecot 2.x betas and matching sieve plugins for allowing more people to a broader testing before the projects go gold. We'd like to have proper naming and versioning in place already for the beta packages. dovecot lda & sieve: resubmit folder for resieving
Hi, I'm currently restructuring my mail archives and migrated from a decade and a half old procmail supported solution to sieve. While doing so I often found that I'd like to filter a bunch of messages (with "bunch" in the area of 1-10K) with my shiny new sieve script. I found in the wiki a way to do that: http://wiki.dovecot.org/HowTo/RefilterMail And it works well, it picks

[Bridge] Bridging over a bonded interface?
Hi, This may sound crazy but I will go ahead anyway. Here's my scenario: ifconfig bond0 10.10.10.1 netmask 255.0.0.0 ifenslave bond0 eth0 ifenslave bond0 eth1 brctl addbr stp0 brctl addif stp0 bond0 brctl stp stp0 on Is this a valid scenario? I am trying to bond two interfaces and run STP over the bonded interface..The problem I am trying to solve is to run STP over aggregated links

rc15 in FC6
Hi, just a note that FC6 now has the very latest of dovecot as an official update. :) It will upgrade the atrpms packages automatically to the official vendor version, there is nothing you need to take care of. -- Axel.Thimm at ATrpms.net -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Copyright notices in code
I thought about committing this change to all .c files: Removed all Copyright Timo Sirainen comments. They weren't always correct and the year numbers were rarely updated when something was changed. Copyright is owned by the creator by default in practically all countries, there's no need to advertise it everywhere. Can anyone think of reasons why this wouldn't be a good idea?

Madwifi just seems to work in Centos 5
I have not installed the madwifi specific kernel stuff (kdml and hal-kdml) from atrpms. I have installed with wpa rpms. And my Atheros card is working with almost no work on my part (other than runing wpa_supplicant as a deamon). Nice!

Trying to understand Suspend 2
I am trying to understand Suspend 2 and what I have to do to get it working in Centos 5. There is quite a bit for it at ATrpms: http://www.atrpms.net/dist/el5/hibernate-suspend2/ http://www.atrpms.net/dist/el5/kernel-suspend2/ The later is the kernel patches that they refer to at the Suspend2 website, so I don't have to recompile the kernel? Centos 5 - Setting up yum for ATrpms
I think I found one of my setup problems. I followed instructions at: http://atrpms.net/install.html And now I see that the information shown there to put into yum.conf (that I put into yum.repo.d/atrpms.repo) is only for FC, not for RL5 (thus Centos 5). What do I use in my atrmps.repo to get it to access the RL5 directories?

Version checks and API/ABI/sonames
...t and dovecot-pigeonhole). Could the checks become ABI-version aware, so that rebuilds and redistribution are kept to a minimum? Maybe Timo is already keeping API/ABI stability between minor updates, so the version checks should be against the first two version components only. dsync mbox->mdbox II: highest_modseq changed
Hi again, after replacing CRLF in 4 mboxes dsync was able to sync all of the 30+GB mailstore to mdbox. Now the (repeated) calling of dsync yields info messages of the kind dsync(athimm): Info: old/speicher: highest_modseq changed: 1 != 10 dsync(athimm): Info: root/root-heretic: highest_modseq changed: 1 != 10 dsync(athimm): Info: lists/ccrma.stanford.edu/planetccrma: highest_modseq changed: 11 != 14 I actually have 987 such messages for a total of 1115 mboxes. Workaround for evolution?

Samba, ACL and read only flag
...eone had reported this in August (with Solaris ACLs) and mentioned a fast fix. So my question is whether this has been fixed, and if yes, whether a 1.9.18x version of Samba deals nicely with it? (We wouldn't like to switch to 2.0 beta, due to our production environment). Thanks, Axel. -- Axel.Thimm@physik.fu-berlin.de Axel.Thimm@ifh.de

I'd like to stick with plaintext passwords, yet still move the profiles to the Unix home directories. Thanks, Axel. -- Axel.Thimm@physik.fu-berlin.de Axel.Thimm@ifh.de
