Looking for simpler solution to probabilistic question
Hi I have two processes which take with a certain probability (p1 and p2) x number of years to complete (age1 and age2). As soon as thge first process is completed, the second one begins. I want to calculate the time it takes for the both processes to be completed. I have the following script which gives me the answer, butI think there must be a more elegant way of doing the calculations between the ##### Any ideas welcom, Rai...

Legend outside plot => grid not limited to plot
...: http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/06/01/19423.html The total example code would be: > ?par > par(xpd=T, mar=par()$mar+c(0,0,0,4)) > plot(1,1) > legend(1.5,1,"point",pch=1) > grid(NULL,NULL,lwd=1) But the problem now is that the grid is not limited to the plot area. Thge grid is drawn all over the image :-( . (Try the example if you don't believe me :-) ). How do I have to correct the code? Thanks for any hints, Peter -- http://games.entertainment.gmx.net/de/entertainment/games/free/puzzle/6169196

PCA - blank loadings
Hi, I have successfully completed a PCA and printed the loadings, however, numerous values are blank. I know that this means the values are just very small but not equal to zero. Is there a way to print out the loadings, including the very small values, I need them for graphing purposes. Thanks, Xan [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Making a share visible only to members of a group
Hi, > I want a shared directory to be visible only to the members of a group, and > to no one else. Instead, a shared directory is either visible to everyone I tried to realize this by using include like: #include smb.conf.%G But it did not work correctly. Sometimes the share was visible, sometimes it wasnt, and if it was visible, network path wasnt found afterwards. > I have worked

Acknowledgments in package documentation
R-devel, I've received permission from a third party to incorporate some of their data in a data set in my 'portfolio' package. I'd like to include an acknowledgment of the third party, and perhaps a "used with permission" somewhere in the package documentation. Where's the best spot in the package docs for such an acknowledgment? Is there a place preferable to the

Files Updates
Hi, I have an Informix program that unload data to a file in a samba directory. Problem is although the file has changed, I still see the old data from my Windows 98 SE PC. I only see the updated data after refreshing the snmba directory numerous times. Sometimes I have to wait for more that 10 minutes !! Funny thing is this problem does not apply to my friend's PC. Why is this so and

Outlook .pst on a samba share; do or don't?
Hi listers. People here are trying to push me into moving the Outlook .psts on a samba share for back-up reasons. I'd like to hear your experience about this: is it feasible in the size of 20 users with 400...800MB each .pst? Any special settings on samba side? Something special that I should pay attention to? Or is just "NO"?

labels outside plotting region
Hello, I've just started R, and I'm getting a bit mad using it. I've managed to produce a barplot with the labels for the ytick marks placed horizontally (perpendicular to the y-axis) usiing par(las=1). The problem is that most of my labels are in part beyond the plotting area because they are rather long (e.g. "H. sapiens", "D. melanogaster" ...). What is the

Linux DoS attack through autoprobing

Sieve "redirect" changes envelope sender in 2.3. / pigeonhole 0.5
Hi (Stephan?), is it a new feature of dovecot 2.3 /pigeonhole 0.5 that a sieve "redirect" changes the envelope sender of a redirected mail or simply a bug ? A sends mail to B, B redirects to C C sees B (not A!) as envelope sender. It is not a problem if C gets the mail but if that mail bounces for various reasons it goes back to B and A will never know about this. I thick this is came

Dedicate Nic''s to DomU''s
Hey all I''m new to Linux and Virtualizing. I''m trying to dedicate my nic''s to each virtual server. For instance, virt server A would use nic1 and virt server B would use nic2 and so on. I''ve been reading some stuff for this list and to tell you the truth I''m a bit overwhelmed. We are going to run SLES10.1 and Xen. I would appreciate any assistance.
