Digium Announcements - Asterisk G.729 Availability & thevoice.digium.com
...ll consumes 64Kbps of voice bandwidth. G.729 reduces the call to 8Kbps (of course normal IP overhead adds to this number). Many people are using Asterisk with G.729 to replace expensive gateways. For more information, visit the following link: http://www.digium.com/index.php?menu=asterisk_g729 thevoice.digium.com ------------------- Digium is proud to announce our latest website, http://thevoice.digium.com/, for obtaining professional voice recordings for your Asterisk IVR prompts. In conjunction with Allison Smith we have created an easy and cost effective way to have customized recordings don...

Transcoding g.711 -> g.729
Hello, I have an asterisk server running with 23 g.729 licenses. I have also purchased a sound file from thevoice.digium.com. I need to covert this file (uLaw, PCM I think) to g.711, g.729 & g.723 for use with an IVR system. Is there a way I can convert the files using the g.729 digium codec? sox? Thanks -Matt -- Matthew S. Prompts and sound quality of the X100P card (FXO card)
Hi We are trying to get better sound quality out of the prompts on our Asterisk system. We had some new ones made by thevoice.digium.com and they are in WAV format instead of the default GSM format on the Asterisk server. The problem is, when you dial in to the server using the FXO card (X100P) you really can't tell the difference between the WAV prompt and the GSM prompt, however, if you listen to the prompts via a...

Words for Allison(?)
...abulary for home automation stuff. This would include typical room names, "on" and "off", "heat" and "cool" (may be in with the weather stuff -- haven't looked), "light(s)", etc... Any chance of getting these? Don't bother referring me to thevoice.digium.com. I'll consider that after the free options are exhausted... Voicemail messages and codecs
If I call to voicemail with G.711, I'm getting the unavailable message I've recorded in voicemail. If I call to voicemail with GSM, I'm not getting my message, only thevoice's standard message that always says user zero-zero-zero-zero regardless of extension. Do the user need to record a message for every possible codec or do I have to read the manual? How do I change zero-zero-zero-zero to the user's extension? /O

Voicemail2
Asterisk Users: I've been working hard on app_voicemail2 which is an enhanced scalability version of app_voicemail. Specifically, its features are: * Highly improved internal architecture (maybe someone else can actually code on it) * Foot print for getting mailboxes from DB (for Vonage) * Segmentable mailboxes, allowing you to truly multihost voicemail for multiple companies
