Request for nv40-c0 testing thermal/fan management
Hi Nouveau enthusiasts, One week ago was merged the thermal/fan management code for most nvidia cards. So far, no major issue arose but we would like to have more testing as soon as possible to deliver a nice and solid support when Linux 3.8 is released. Thermal management is split into two parts: - Temperature monitoring: Making sure your card doesn't overheat - Fan management: Driving

[PATCH 0/3] Kconfig dependencies: acpi-video, backlight and thermal
Hi everyone, It took me a while to figure this out properly, as I kept getting circular or missing dependencies with video drivers. This set of three patches should simplify the situation a bit, mostly by cleaning up the dependencies around CONFIG_ACPI_VIDEO. With all three patches applied, I no longer run into those related warnings. If everyone agrees on the general direction, I hope we can

Problem reading vitals from Gigabyte H77-DH3H
Hello everyone, I'm unable to read temperature Gigabyte H77-DH3H motherboard. Is that motherboard supported or am I doing it incorrectly? When trying to access hw.acpi.thermal everything appears to be ok, but it is not, the system always returns 27,8C and 29,8C which fooled me initially - the values never change. Here is output: [chinatsu]:/root# sysctl hw.acpi.thermal

Anyone know of a pass through ATA
Anyone know of a company that makes a pass through ATA? By pass through I mean have an Ethernet switch built into the ATA, like most desktop phones have. All of the dual ethernet ATA's I have seen have WAN/LAN ports, not two LAN ports. I fooled around with DMZ etc...but it just doesn't work as well. erroneous cpu thermal throttling / actually a python3 question
I have a small, aircooled pc server, which is running fine, but the log gets filled with a series of messages saying the package, and each of 8 cpus is throttled because of thermal issues. Then, within the same second according to the timestamps, it reports everything is OK and throttling is off. This happens once every minute. In reality, when I try performance tests, I believe the processor

CPU and FBDIMM thermal monitoring
I'm running Centos5 x86_64 on an ASUS DSBV-DX/SAS mainboard with a Xeon E5345 quad core CPU. The mainboard BIOS shows me all the thermal information about CPU and the FBDIMMs as well as the fan rotation speeds. ACPI is set to version 3.0 in the BIOS. Under Centos5 I can't see any of these information under /proc/acpi/thermal_zone. This directory is just empty. Do I have to load any
