Remote Installworld
...y
local to the machine to assist me. Anyways, my only access to this
machine is via SSH, no remote serial console or anything.
When I try to do a "make installworld" I end up with
install: rename: /lib/INS@aTxk to /lib/libcrypt.so.3: Operation not
permitted
very shortly thereafter. I cannot boot into single user mode because
I am far, far away from the machine. What can I do to finish the
installworld?
Thanks

[4.0 Release] Schedule and call for testers
...anch is created, trunk will become 5.0).
If you'd like to help providing binaries and testing for your
favourite platform, please subscribe to the release-testers mailing
list [1].
I propose the following schedule for the 4.0 release:
- 12 January 2017: Create the 4.0 branch. RC1 tagged soon thereafter.
- 1 February: Tag RC2. All lose ends should have been tied up by now.
- 21 February: Final tag. Binaries and release announcement a few days later.
Unless there are any objections, I'll post this on the web page soon.
Cheers,
Hans

dovecot and thunderbird
We've been using dovecot for a while now (currently 1.0beta7) and it works
nicely. We have just one reoccuring problem:
When using thunderbird as the imap client sometimes when messages are moved
from the inbox to other folders (including Trash) they shortly thereafter
reappear in the inbox - this can happen multiple times to the same message.
We have multiple namespaces set up so that inbox is mbox format in
~/.poffice/username and other folders are maildir in ~/Maildir - both of
these are on NFS. Indexes are on local storage.
The problem only seems to hap...

To create a Panel and run a Pooled OLS
Dear all,
I have tried to merge two cross sections (crossA and crossB) as follows, both
crossA and crossB include the same variables, e.g., ID,y,x1,x2:
Panel <- merge(crossA,crossB,by="ID")
I have, thereafter, tried to run the following pooled OLS:
OLS <- lm(Panel$y~Panel$x1+Panel$x2)
and have received the following error message "Error in model.frame(formula,
rownames, variables, varnames, extras, extranames, : invalid variable type"
I would be very grateful for help. At the moment,...

vector decreasing by a factor
Hi,
I'm quite new to R so this question will sound quite fundamental. I need to create a vector of length 160. The first element should be (1+r)^159 and each element thereafter should decrease by a factor of (1+r) until the 160th element that should be 1. Is there a function similar to seq() but increasing or decreasing by factors? I need to do this in one step i.e, not using loops. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Andre

Parser For Line Number Tracing
...king it even harder.) the way I do it is mostly with inserting
`message()` statements.
what I would really like to have is a parser that inserted 'curline
<<- ##' into the R code, where '##' is the filename and line number.
something like 'addtracker one.R two.R' and thereafter I can run two.R
and, when the program dies, use `print curline` to find out where my
error has roughly occurred.
has someone already written such an 'instrumenter'?

Slow file listing : Debian Wheezy, Samba Version 3.6.6
...mba version.
(Debian Wheezy, Samba version 3.6.6)
I have one box, where each time you open windows explorer and click on
the mapped network share, a line moves across the top of explorer and it
takes around 30-40 seconds to display the directory listing.
Once it has done this once, it is quick thereafter, until you close
explorer and open it again later, then it is slow again.
Can anyone give me some direction on where to search for the cause of
this issue please ?

L options in Dial() dont seem to work....
Hello Asterisk users,
Can someone thwack me with a clue stick please?
I am following the Asterisk TFOT book Dial() example trying to get the limit

These settings seem to have no effect.
There are no warning messages after 4 minutes or every 30 secs thereafter
and the call lasts longer than 5 minutes.

Remote employees using Polycom 501 lose ability to receive incoming calls after few minutes.
...is a breakdown of the issue I am experiencing. I have three remote
employees, in various states, who have Polycom 501 phones. They are
unable to receive incoming calls after a few minutes of the phones being
plugged in. They work immediately after being plugged in, but they lose
the ability shortly thereafter. They can always make outbound calls, but
only to real phone numbers, not extensions.
They each have NAT routers, and I have triple checked that they have
opened/forwarded the correct ports, basically 5060-30000 UDP. Once they
plug the phone it (power and ethernet) I see on the CLI console of th...

Preventing LLVM from optimizing out a variable
...for this, it sees that after initializing b, a is
no longer used, so it is optimized out.
Unfortunately, for debug, I'd like the value for a to be kept around, if
only so that I can determine the value of b and go from there. I don't
care if a is spilled to the stack and never referenced thereafter, as long
as it is available for debug.
Is there any way of marking a Value* as "precious", not to be optimized out?
Simply storing a to a local variable (result of alloca in the first basic
block) and calling llvm.dbg.declare does not appear to be sufficient:
define void @foo(%A*) {...

[LLVMdev] AliasAnalysis as a Loadable Module, Possible 2.6->2.7 issue
...has anyone been able to load an AliasAnalysis module

Longer version:
Even with a dummy pass implementation (just returns MayAlias for
everything), I'm getting very strange behavior:
All calls to FooAA::alias go to FooAA::print, resulting in
understandably painful failure thereafter, generally a segfault.

firewalld clue needed
...dded* by GUI tools?
>Not every user that needs to change firewall settings is a certified UNIX
admin.
I don't dispute the value of GUIs. I have a comment and a question, first
that in "the data center" my experience is that iptables rules are put into
place and only rarely changed thereafter, like the network configuration at
the server.
But my question was partly this: What is the specific need for a
continuously running daemon firewalld if what we wanted was a GUI front-end
for iptables?
Thanks....Nick Geo

I'm assuming whatever versions you're using are the precompiled
binaries from the source/binary tarballs from kernel.org?
In the packet captures, I'm guessing the UEFI firmware did DHCP, fetch
syslinux.efi then very quickly thereafter started the broken DHCP
cycle?
