Here's my overview and review so far... http://www.theopensourcerer.com/2008/04/27/siemens-gigaset-685ip-phones/ Cheers Al -- The way out is open! http://www.theopensourcerer.com

New Tutorial: Asterisk on EPIA VIA C3

To DB or not to DB?
...the box with config files in /etc/asterisk and logs etc going into /var. I notice a great many of the contributors here seem to use a db backend (is this also called Real Time Asterisk?) and I'd like to know why if anyone cares to comment. Stupid Question #1 - Testing the "s" exten from a SIP Phone
...he dialplan as I go. But having to dial-in on my PSTN line each time is going to cost me money. Can I connect to my zap_incoming context from my locally connected SIP phone? I'm sure this is possible but it's late and I'm a bit brain dead. Cheers -- The way out is open! http://www.theopensourcerer.com

Is GoVarion a fraud ???
Hi, Some days ago I spent about US$700,00 in a Tormenta III board in www.govarion.com. I used credit card. I didn't receive any answer for my emails and there is no telephone number to contact them.. Now, I'd like to cancel this order, because I couldn?t wait so long, and my credit card was billed. Is www.govarion.com a fraud ???? Does anybody know something about them ?? Thanks.

AGI Programming
...blishing approached me a few weeks ago and asked if I would like to review a book or two for them on my blog. The first one they sent me is called Asterisk Gateway Interface Programming and has only just been released. It was written by Nir Simionovich. You can read my review here: http://www.theopensourcerer.com/2009/04/16/asterisk-agi-programming-with-packt/ They have also sent me a book on Trixbox CE 2.6 which I will get round to reading and reviewing over the coming month or so. How are you using Asterisk at Home ?
I am very new to Asterisk, it was a weekend project of mine that I jumped into this weekend. I have it up and working on a box at home, and I am nearly half way through the book I purchased friday "Asterisk: The Future of Telephony 2nd Edition". Anyway, I started this out so I could help a friend who wanted a VoIP PBX solution for his small business. I have been working with Cisco

Building a System.
So, people have recommended building a system from scratch, start with a CentOS base and installing asterisk and all of the other utilities. I've only used Trixbox for my business system. I'm wondering what surprises I'd run into. Right now, I know I'd need the OS, Asterisk, something like FreePBX, I have a x100p card so I'd need Zaptel, does that come with asterisk?
