Winbind and Windows 2000
We are running a windows 2000 domain where I work. I am developing a linux client for desktop deployment so that we can stop the spread of cancer (read microsoft). I can get winbind to join the domain, but when i try a winfo -t, it tells me "could not check secret". I have scoured the internet looking for help and could not find anything. I used the HOW TO from John Trostel, with no

Advanced routing routing table limits and rule design
I am trying to determine how to best increase the number of routing tables available in linux 2.6 to more than 255. I realize this involves increasing the storage of some messages to and from the kernel in addition to kernel changes (from browsing the code), and was hopeful that someone might know what the correct solution would be or could point me in the right direction (like existing patches

SSH 2.4.0 remote forward patch in next release?

I provided a patch for the problem but [2]was told that no more patches were being considered until 4.1 was released and that I should attach my patch to a new Bugzilla bug. This [3]I did. Default domain for winbindd?
Hello once again, I've got winbind doing authentication not just for the samba service but also sshd and login. It's great. However, I have to give a fully-qualified username (e.g. "GENEEDINC+chris.palmer") as the username when logging in via these methods. I wondered, Is there any way to get winbindd to insert the domain and the separator for the user, when none is provided? I

Samba 3.0 won't join Samba-TNG domain
Hi, I posted this problem before in more detail (http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=samba&m=104756899022766&w=2) but received no response. At the current state of Smaba 3.0 and Samba-TNG these two seem to be incomaptible. Samba 3.0 can't join a TNG controlled domain. I think this should affect a lot of installations as TNG as a controller and "stable&quo...

ethernet interfaces swapped around
...yes, the interfaces are not the same). This system kickstart fine with CentOS 3.x. I recently tried to rekick it with CentOS 4.x but was unsuccessful in doing so. When kicking CentOS 4.1, the interfaces are swapped around, i.e. eth0 becomes eth1 and eth1 becomes eth0 (as described at http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-kernel&m=104888957013124&w=2). Is there a way to fix the interface during kickstart? Unfortunately, because we have so many different types of systems, simply swapping the cables is not a good idea because it complicates management.

Bad directories appearing in ext3 after upgrade 2.4.16 -> 2.4.18+cvs
Hi, I recently upgraded one of my fileservers from 2.4.16 to 2.4.18 plus the ext3-cvs.patch that Andrew Morton pointed me to for addressing and assertion failure. Since then I have been getting lots of errors like: May 21 14:07:03 glass kernel: EXT3-fs error (device md(9,0)): ext3_add_entry: bad entry in directory #2945366: rec_len %% 4 != 0 - offset=0, inode=1886221359, rec_len=24927,

problem moving files
Hi, I am not totally sure what caused this but I just wanted to know if anything of this sort has been seen in the ext3 world. I did a fresh install of redhat 7.2 linux with kernel-2.4.9(we have some patches applied to this). I have root and boot filesystems as ext3 type. After running some tests the system gets into a strange state. I cannot move one file to another if that destination file
