Win2k joining a Samba domain
Hi,
Having managed to get far enough with the config to get a win2k box to
connect to a Samba v3.0 share where the Samba machine's backend is based
in LDAP, I cannot now add this win2k machine to the domain.
Can anyone give me an example of how to set up an account within the
LDAP server that has sufficient rights to allow the machine to join my
Samba domain?
Regards,
Graham

Seamless update from Samba 2 to Samba 3 on a new server

I've set the SID to the old domain one, using net setlocalsid

I've also copied the smb.conf, and the secrets.tdb, and done the group
mappings.
Here is the result of the net groupmap list command :

The problem is that the old domain computers can't join the new domain.

net getlocalsid problem ???
Hi List,
I'm currently migrating from win2000 to linux ( samba 3.0.10-1.4E ).
Domain = TESTDOMAIN
Windows Box Name = TESTPDC
Linux Box = LINUXPDC
I have joined the windows pdc from the linux box. Next I use: net getsid
-S TESTPDC -W TESTDOMAIN which puts my SID in secrets.tdb. All is fine
here. Next I use net getlocalsid which gives me an error so I use net
getlocalsid TESTDOMAIN which gives me the correct SID. I...

winbind on Solaris 2.5.1 not working.
Ok folks,
Here is the deal. I have posted to the news groups several times and gotten
not a single thing. I have been trying since march to get 2.2.8a working on
sol2.5.1 with winbind to do the authentication but it has failed miserably.
Winbindd starts but fails to create the /tmp/.winbindd/pipe file and bombs
like a daisycutter. But if I run winbindd like this " truss -aefo /tmp/file
