using VSS on a samba server - no smb locks ?
Hi all,
We are considering moving our VSS database from a Win2K server to a samba server.
All clients are Win2K clients.
I used the VSS tool "testlock.exe" to make sure the native lock mode can be used.
The test was successful, and I saw that an SMBlock transaction was performed, and a reply_lockingX was replied.
When I opened a VSS database on the samba server and started to use it - I saw no SMBlock operations.
Doesn't make sence to...

I've included the Executable, Source code and Lock file
If we I can't get this to work I'm going to have to resort to using a MS os
(HELP!!)

I ran both versions of samba on both different machines with the same
results.
smbstatus shows no locks on the files that are inaccessible
Try to learn how Clarion works and locks, was at the
http://www.clarionmag.com site, found a utility called testlock that they
had available for free download. Testlock is a program by www.burtonsys.com
that is wrote in c for windows to test file sharing and locking on network
servers.
I have been running testlk32(the 32bit version) with interesting results.
It consistently works ok by itself on either samba v....
