Dovecot source code audit
...much effort and thoroughly all-encompassing approach, the Cure53 testers only managed to assert the excellent security-standing of Dovecot. More specifically, only three minor security issues have been found in the codebase, thus translating to an exceptionally good outcome for Dovecot, and a true testament to the fact that keeping security promises is at the core of the Dovecot development and operations."

Our success story with samba4
Hi all,
This message is a testament to the great work samba team has done, but
its also an encouragement to those of you that still not sure if samba4
will work in your environment.
This semester we have moved from samba 3.0.X DC to samba4 DC for
students, and things are working great
The move was predominantly driven by switchin...

Announcing SoapBX.com a new Rails App for making presentations
I got an idea less than two weeks ago and now as a testament to the
power of Rails I have released the first initial beta version of
SoapBx, with less than 20 hours of programming involved so far.
SoapBX is an application to create css based presentations and uses
Erik Meyer''s cool S5 css and js code:

Mar 19 09:16:39 hedron kernel: smb_lookup: find //Store_261 failed,

Normally, I automount my windows shares. This has been working actually,
for about 3 months, without a problem.
Call it a testament to the reliability of 64-bit Win2003 that trying to do
a file listing with Samba blue-screens the server. The first time I
thought it must just be a coincidence, but after a reboot, it did it again!
They have to constantly patch the window's boxes here for security problems
of course; this co...

Tom''s Legacy
...my data centre ( at a price that
I could afford!)
Contrary to your opinion, it is also one of the best documented open
source projects in existance, you are very talented at explaining
complex principles in a simple, easy to read and finely illustrated
manner. I believe the messages received bear testament to the huge
support you have built, and the loyalty towards Shorewall in the
community. The onus is now on us, the users, to take your legacy
forward, to organise ourselves and advance the project. I will help in
any way I can.
Please regenerate, refresh and enjoy nature.

solution to domain reboot problem
...like the domain was
invisible to the XP box.
I pulled my hair out, scoured the web unsuccessfully, then stumbled upon this
solution, using the log files from samba. I found that it was rejecting the
user 'smbguest' as not existing. None of the HOWTO's mention this importatn
fact, a testament to how shitty linux people are at documenting EXACTLY what
needs to be done, in general.
do the following:
as root, add this line to /etc/passwd:
smbguest:x:1202:100:workstation:/dev/null:/bin/false
make sure '1202' is not taken by anything
else...change it to something close if it

[nbdkit PATCH 0/3] Fix %m usage on BSD
Our use of "%m" in various error messages is testament to the
project's initial life on Linux - but other than Cygwin, I know
of no other platforms supporting that glibc extension.
We COULD audit the code and manually turn "%m" into
"%s"/strerror(errno), but that's a lot of churn. Instead, let's
fix the few outliers tha...

Theora Intra (ptalarbvorm) vs. MJPEG
...of
quality, which pleasantly surprised me. It is for this reason I have
gone to these lengths to make this comparison widely available.
In some cases, the rate control for the MJPEG went haywire, so you'll
find that some of the MJPEG clips are much larger than the Ogg Theora
clips. This is a testament to ptalarbvorm's rate control - it did not
veer much at all from the target rate even when faced with some
difficult-to-encode frames.
I think this test is a useful one in demonstrating Theora's feasibility
as a high-quality, intra-only codec. Furthermore, it also shows that

problems with print$
Hi All,
I finally signed up for the list after years of using Samba successfully -
a testament to the quality of Samba. Yet now I have a problem with the
point-and-print functionality. I am able to authenticate against my server
(Solaris 8, Samba 3.0.7, OpenLDAP 2.1.25) as user 'chuck' in my LDAP
directory and browse the shares, but when I right-click on the printer and
select...

Debian packages: icecast2, libshout, ices2

:) I was pleasantly surprised to see that the packages which made it to
unstable were immediately built correctly on all 11 architectures: i386,
ia64, alpha, s390, arm, hppa, mips, mipsel, sparc, m68k, and powerpc. A
strong testament to repeatable build systems and portable code.

Not to sound rude, but sounds like a 'you' problem and not an 'Icecast
mailing list' problem.

To redirect any message into /dev/null
Hi all,
I'm running a script in my crontab like this:
*/50 * * * * /root/scripts/keepjobrun 2>&1 > /dev/null
However, crontab always sends a message to root (me) about the above script.
How do I stop it from sending any notification?
Thank you very much,

but on the samba mount if I get a directory listing, it gets listed without
the accent on the uppercase e-grave, whether or not I specify a codepage in

Other uppercase accented letters such as ?, ?, ? and ? don't have that

[Flac-users] libflac memory requirements?
Hello,
Can someone give me an idea of the memory requirements for using libFLAC?
I'm trying to incorporate FLAC support into a player application for the
Rio Receiver (see http://rioreceiver.comms.net for details), but I'm
having trouble because FLAC__stream_decoder_new() is attempting to
allocate 2099828 bytes for an instance of the FLAC__StreamDecoderPrivate
struct. Is this accurate,
