Samba 2.2.8a PDC + OpenLDAP + W2k Terminalserver
Hi list, I am experiecing some problems with a Samba setup acting as a PDC for a customers network. I am not sure if this is actually a Samba/LDAP issue or if Windows is to blame here. I did a search on Google but I couldn't find anything answers. However, the problems I am experiencing are kind of weird. I joined all the Windows clients (NT4/W2K) and a Windows 2K terminalserver to the Samba

MSVC TerminalServer Speed
Hi, Back in 1997 the list was full of tips on making Microsoft Visual C++ Studio (v6) use files over Samba (v2.2.2 on Solaris). Could someone please point me to the definitive answers... (beyond speed.txt?) and their current status. We have an added complication of having 5 developers using each NT4 box over citrix/Terminalserver. Some days we are fine, but some days we slow to a crawl of over a

how to define share for sharing lmhosts?
...I want to make a share for sharing an lmhosts file which gets included by the clients. This share has to be very public and accept nullsessions (whatever that me be (no username and password?)). I want this because I need to generate aliases on the fly for for our fileserver for some clients (terminalservers specifically). So I thought that having an server side maintained lmhosts file that is included by the terminalserver clients would do the trick. The lmhosts file on the clients contains: =================================================================== 172.16.16.9 fileserver #PRE #DOM:n...

Windows 2008 terminal services with a samba PDC
Dear, My windows 2008 terminal server doesn't find the terminal license server when I add the windows server to the samba domain. The license server is installed on the same 2008 server as where the terminal services are installed on. When the windows server was still in a workgroup, then he found the TS license server. I'm using samba 3.2.14-40 and on the windows server 2008, the

Validate Ids Multiple DC
If you add the "not" supported winbind options from the member also to the DCs, then you will have the same resulting uid on all servers. Official not supported, but works now for more then a year here. ( sernet samba 4.2.7 on debian wheezy ) This is my addition to the smb.conf on the DC. ## map id's outside to domain to tdb files. idmap config * : backend = tdb

winbind trouble under load?
We have a large W2K domain with numerous terminalservers at the local sites. Those sites also have a linux-2.2.20 server with samba-2.2.5. The samba is used to store the profiles for both the terminalservers and for the windows 2000/xp clients. I use winbind and have joined the server to the domain without problem. I can set rights on directories and so...
