OT: Recommendation for a good Internationalized terminal software
Hi all,
We've got server-based application that runs on CentOS. Until now,
most of our customer's end-users have accessed the application using
either PuTTY or Teraterm. I was asked yesterday to try and find
internationalized add ons or alternatives for our new Asian customers
(Japan, Korea and China atm).
I figured if anyone would be able to recommend terminal emulation
programs, it'd be you guys. So, would anyone be able to recommend any
windows-base...

Comport Serial Port Card (8 Ports)
It is some time that I using AirMail3 with wine.
I have the latest version of Wine but after I configure the Ports from
ttyR0 to ttyR7 and running AirMail3 this application is not able to
comunicate using the equivalent COM1 .... COM4 ports.
I'm not sure if Wine is converting correctly ttyR0 to COM1 and so forth.
The result is that for the Hurricane season I can NOT use E-Mail under

no networking
Hello,
I am using the latest prepackaged version of wine (apparently
0.0.20010326) under Debian/unstable and I am completely unable to do
anything network related. I tried 'Ping Plotter' as root and TeraTerm Pro
as both root and regular user. I also tried Becky, but that's another
thing entirely. All these applications did not seem to have access to the
network at all. I am using the builtin version of both winsock.dll and
wsock_32.dll. Is there anything I can do to make networking work under
wine?...

Accessing a Modem / Dial-up telnet connection
Hi Mr newbie here. Using 32-bit Ubuntu 11.10 and Wine 1.3.28. I have installed a Creative PCI Modem and that works well as /dev/modem from things like putty. I've done the link ln -s /dev/modem ~/.wine/dosdevices/com6 so it's now my com6 within wine. However, using teraterm the response from the modem is bitty and slow and pretty useless. If I do something like AT\r the OK\r does come back but very slowly. I can make it dial a number but you cant see the connect or login message properly and you cant use it.
Any ideas?
Cheers - Rich

Excuse me for being ignorant, but what is ssh.exe? A win32 ssh
login? The only win32 app I know of that does ssh logins is
teraterm with ssh add-on. Is this in samba contrib also?
Thanks, Steve

openssh 3.7p1 and 3.7.1p1 Solaris problems
...past (without problems). I have tried both new and existing (previously
working) ssh_config and sshd_config files. The new versions seem to
have broken SSH 1 support (and maybe cause a bit of SSH 2 problems).
All of my unix boxes can ssh into the server fine. Cygwin users can ssh
in fine. TeraTerm Pro (both the old one that supports ssh1 only and the
new one which <allegedly> supports ssh2) both just keep prompting me for
my password over and over again. Putty v.52 (older version) crashes
when I try to connect via ssh2, and gives me "Access denied" on
attempts via ssh1....

Having problem with menu.c32 on serial console
...I try to use it with the serial settings all I see is the one
character that draws the top left corner of the menu against a blue
background and that's it. Nothing I type seems to have any effect. ESC
doesn't do anything either.
I am using rxvt (over an ssh session to a console server) or teraterm
in vt100 mode (with a null modem cable) to display the console. In
both cases the non-menu version of the config file works fine.
Has anybody seen a similar issue? Any known mistakes I am making to
cause this? Any workarounds?
Thanks.

TTSSH and the SSH trademark
Hi everyone. I want to point out some facts about TTSSH that may be
relevant to the claims of trademark infringement by OpenSSH. I'll confine
my opinions to another message :-).
I released my product, which has always been named "Teraterm SSH" and is
usually abbreviated to "TTSSH", to the public in May 1998. TTSSH is a free
software Windows client for the SSH1 protocol. The release was announced
on the ssh at clinet.fi mailing list. There is no way to tell how many people
are using TTSSH, but the number of users seems...

Another reason why "I Like Monty"
...ate and like Monty
even more.
I sat down this morning to ogg a CD I bought yesterday.
So here I am, preparing to rip the thing so I login to my ripper
computer run my custom ripper->encoder suite - unlike other days where
I fire it up and minimize the window (I'm on an NT but I have some 5
TeraTerm/SSH sessions running), I watched the ripper suite go...
Then I saw something that brought a HUGE smile to my face.
You see, ever since I've been ripping audio CDs I've used the same
program - 'cause none of the other ones work around faulty/scratched
disks as good. I use cdparanoia a...

Serial Port Access Under Wine
I have asked this before, but has anyone successfully used serial
port /dev/ttyS0 under wine? I am trying to run a windows program for
controlling an amateur radio - a 'tentec pegasus'.
My linux is a debian derivative ... sidux ... and I have installed wine from
the sid repositories. The program runs ... and displays a radio dial which
looks correct. However, because I cannot

Serial port problem
Since about v0.9 I've been unable to get wine to reliably receive characters on the serial port. Sending is fine. The latest version I've tried is 1.1.23, and this always loses the first two characters of a line, then randomly loses some of the later ones.
Is anyone else seeing the problem? It's an absolute show-stopper for me because the only Windows software I use needs serial coms

chroot-ing users coming in via SSH and/or SFTP?
A client wants me to set up a mechanism whereby his customers can drop files
securely into directories on his FreeBSD server; he also wants them to be
able to retrieve files if needed. The server is already running OpenSSH,
and he himself is using Windows clients (TeraTerm and WinSCP) to access it,
so the logical thing to do seems to be to have his clients send and receive
files via SFTP or SCP.
The users depositing files on the server shouldn't be allowed to see what
one another are doing or to grope around on the system, so it'd be a good
idea to chroot t...

SWAT login - is password entry secure?
Samba group members,
Is the password that I specify when logging into SWAT handled securely?
I'd like to use the Samba Web Administration Tool (SWAT) to create and
administer Samba "shares" that will be used by our users of ClearCase on
Windows. That requires that I log in to the Samba host as "root". I
access SWAT via Internet Explorer (from any machine) buy

[Bug 368] New: TTSSH will not connect to OpenSSH_3.4p1
...enSSH
Version: -current
Platform: ix86
OS/Version: NetBSD
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: sshd
AssignedTo: openssh-unix-dev at mindrot.org
ReportedBy: mindrot at regs.nebcorp.com
The popular TeraTerm TTSSH ssh client is having problems connecting to sshd.
TTSSH will throw a dialog box with the message:
"Detected corrupted data; connection terminating."
"Detected corrupted data; connection terminating."
... and then exit. Pretty annoying.
Here's debugging output:...

OpenSSH v2.3.0p1 on Solaris 2.7/2.8 vs. OpenBSD 2.8
...server as both an inetd and as a daemon, with the same
results for both ssh-1 and ssh-2.
*attachment: sshd_config
*attachment: ssh_config
As an almost afterthought, SSH clients from Windows machines work
on both ssh-1 and ssh-2 to any of these boxes. Clients tried were:
VanDyke SecureCRT, PuTTY, TeraTerm.
I think this counts as a build specific bug, but (disclaimer): I am
not a programmer[tm].
If I need to provide more information, please let me know. None of
these systems are in production yet, so I can destructively test if
needed.

Services not required?
I''m in the process of locking down as much of my systems here
as possible as to available ports. I am down to only a handful
but am not sure how much of a security risk they pose and was
wondering if anyone here might be able to comment, or suggest
secure versions to run:

22/SSH (1.22)
23/TELNET (Netkit 0.09)
