using mulitple sound card inputs
...39;s something I can try to play with later. What you've done here is awesome, where did you come across a system that could house 11 pci cards? ______________________________________________ Andrew Wehner Chatham Financial - Kennett Square T: 484.731.0029 -----Original Message----- From: telmnstr@757.org [mailto:telmnstr@757.org] Sent: Thursday, August 31, 2006 12:13 AM To: Andrew Wehner Cc: icecast@xiph.org Subject: Re: [Icecast] using mulitple sound card inputs > I've been able to successfully stream using Icecast with Darkice on my > Debian box. Rotary phones? (No, I'm serious)
Will the FXS cards that work with asterisk handle rotary? Are there any channel banks that can convert rotary to touch tone (like some sorta bridge)? The goal is to be able to log input from rotary phones. Full PBX functionality would be nice but... (It's for a project, not for serious production). -- // Ethan O'Toole //

Icecast relay as a source to another icecast?
I have a situation where I'd like to be able to have icecast reach out to another icecast server as a client. Is this possible with relaying? From what I read relaying and master relaying both have the server reach out to another server. The reason is this. I have a hardware encoder (Telos audioactive) sitting on a cablemodem. I have a remote provider (streamcheap or something) set to

Icecast source with updateable metadata?
Hello everyone, I'm not new to Icecast, but I've always used Darkice. A new project friends and myself are building for fun utilizes a Rivendell automation setup that will run on one computer, then a source client for icecast on a 2nd computer with a mixer inbetween. I'm looking to push the title information from the Rivendell system over to the system that will have the

using mulitple sound card inputs
I've been able to successfully stream using Icecast with Darkice on my Debian box. I want to be able to stream multiple live streams from the same box using different sound cards (Basically, we have groups that will be using different TV channels and want to be able to stream the audio to the user's pc's for the proper channels they are viewing). Has anyone tried to do this?

Icecast relay as a source to another icecast?

Apparently Liquidsoap cannot forward an icecast stream without re-encoding. As nutty as it seems, VLC might be the solution with the acopy operator. I need to look into the icecast output plugin to

Polycom 330 + Asterisk, phone locks up. * key will do it
Hello all, We have an Asterisk server that has worked without issue for a while. Before, only Sipura and Polycom 500 series phones were used. Recently, we've added a few POE switches and 20 or so Polycom 330's. The 330's seem to lock up often. One easy way to do this is by hitting the * key. I looked thru the XML files for dialplan and what not, nothing stood out.

Is the X100P a WinModem?
So I've been on the Asterisk list for a long time. Mostly looking to set it up as a cheap alternative to a commercial MeetMe bridge, as a for-fun project. I keep noticing the Wildcard FXO X100P sorta seems like a Winmodem. Winmodems are basically a sound card chip tied to a pots port, where the Winders driver takes on the MO/DEM functions in software. I've always despised them as a data

Relay question
Hello, I have a question regarding relaying. Well, I've set it up and it isn't working. Maybe I am doing something wrong? I added 3 aliases to the icecast.conf file on Host#2. Host#1 has 3 streams that are served up, and that are working. When I connect to one of the aliased screams on host#2, it immediately kicks me off with an error. On Host#2: -> alias list Listing aliases

Darkice and splitting left and right into separate streams?
Hello all. Anyone have any idea what it would take to separate left and right into separate mountpoints on an icecast server? We are using Darkice on FreeBSD. Works GREAT (still stuck running old version because the new one bombed on compilation, but NO COMPLAINTS!) I'm assuming this would fall in Darkice's hands because from what I gather it reads the pcm audio device and just passes

IceCast Questions.... ("id3 tags, mp3, Ogg, etc)
Hello, I'm a long time user of Icecast. We currently run 12 streams on Icecast 1.x (Mp3). I plan to expand this to 20 streems soon. They are all low bitrate community service. Recently some friends and myself came across the thought of actually generating our own content. Music, talk, etc. I've been running the ideas of the automation setup that would be required to do such a thing. I

Icecast file recording, new file every connect?
Hello, Quick question. I'm using the old version (but looking to move to the new version) of icecast. When my darkice sessions die and reconnect to the server the files that I have setup to be recorded get reset. I'm not 100% hip on the MP3 data format. Is there a header then data? Or is it just data and the player syncs up with the stream? Would it be possible to change the code so

Admin stats... okay, what have people done?
As someone who still runs icecast1 as well as icecast2, I gotta admin I love the status page of icecast1 over icecast2. I realize the admin functions can't be called without authentication (Without modifying the source code). Is there any way to get this data from icecast easily? I'm going to attempt again to generate a good looking quick overview page, but certain things like resolved

Speed for meetme/asterisk?
Hello all, I'm planning to setup a linux box + asterisk as a h.323 conference bridge. My goal is to allow incoming h.323 calls with a voice menu that says welcome, and enter 1 thru 4 for public rooms or enter 5 then code for private rooms, or such. How much CPU power will Asterisk require to run say 16 participants in a bridge? Are we talking Pentium III 500 or AMD Athlon 2800? Anyone

Service similiar to VoicePulse-Connect?
Are there other providers similiar to VoicePulse-Connect? I signed up and added a $30 credit with them, only to later find out they don't have coverage in the 757 NPA. So hopefully they will refund the $$ since otherwise I won't ever use them since my goal is incoming only, and #2 I'm still without a 757 dialup. I would actually like to find a service that will let me really have the
