OT: configuring xming to know putty's not in a std. location
Is there some way to do this? I've got the current putty (actually,
putty-cac), pageant, and plink in my user's Downlods directory - neither
he nor I have admin authority on his laptop, and Desktop support's
teleworking today - but I can't seem to find a way to configure xming to
look there for putty.
Or is it start putty, *then* start xming?

NAT-helping outbound proxy
Hi,
We're deploying a small VoIP solution for a group of teleworkers.
Naturally, this exposes us to all sorts of fun, most of which we seem to
have working properly. However, some NAT issues are still bugging us and
we have noticed that often these situations didn't exist when users were
connected directly to our VoIP provider, voiptalk.org.
They have somethin...

What is the state of Asterisk Secure Remote Communications?
...securely to
a remote Asterisk server (both for signalling and the RTP media
stream). This might be a standalone phone, or maybe one plugged into a
small (broadband router sized) box.
An example commercial phone system with this capability is the Mitel
3300 or SX-200 with 5xxx IP phones having teleworker capability.
What solutions "just work" out there? ("Just work" means that the end
user only has to know enough to plug stuff in to get a dial-tone and
incoming calls).
All ideas (commercial or otherwise) welcome.
Thanks,
Alvin

Analog Adapters ?
I have a friend with a small business running a small SIP based phone
system. He was looking into providing some SIP phones for a couple of
remote teleworkers, but as he started to look around and ask me questions he
ran across analog adapters which made him curious.
He proceeded to ask me if there was an analog adapter that provided the
following functionality in which my reply was simply, "I don't know". I
have NO experience with any a...

Info on UK ISDN30e?
Hi :)
My employer is looking to move a call centre to a new office, and has
been increasingly frustrated with their legacy PBX (call-logging
licensing and hardware upgrade costs). So I've stepped forth as the
Open Source Pedant and suggested Asterisk so we can do all our own
CallerID / call logging / analyses, and make use of IP Phones /
teleworking, etc.
The problem begins in that I only

Mitel 5010
Does anyone know if this phone can or does work with Asterisk ? I have a
potential client who wants to throw away their current mitel ip system
(keeps crashing on a regular basis - not good for a phone-based company),
but are reluctant to purchase new handsets.
Thanks.
Julian.

AW: Large Enterprises using asterisk
...ome VOIP-Softphones) and Asterisk and Linux evolve too quick to follow without remarkable manpower.
I would very much like to rethink our decision next year, but at the moment, I would not rollout a vital infrastructure based on asterisk (we will continue our asterisk evaluation, but only fore some teleworkers).
GNU/Linux has the same problem in many companies. The big distributors as Red Hat or SuSE address this by guaranteeing continuity in there 'enterprise server' products, Debian does the same with the 'stable' branch.
So my proposal is, that with the 1.0 version let a distributio...

build buglet
I use
R CMD Rdindex man/*.Rd >INDEX
in my makefile to generate an INDEX. When I then use
R CMD build whatever
the newindex seems to be in a slightly different order, resulting in a
* checking whether index is up-to-date ... NO
(because the result of diff is not empty) and a suggestion to use
--force.
However, --force results in the INDEX in my source directory being
re-written, which
