Strange behavior with samba mountpoint
...error
I apologize if this has nothing to do with Samba, but I am perplexed as
to how to continue troubleshooting this, and came across the problem
when doing a mount -t smbfs.
kernel - 2.4.18-18.8.0smp
samba 2.2.7-2
If I create a new directory I am able to mount the NT box on it.

[Bridge] Some Questions
I am battling an issue with use of bridging with xen.
For some yet undetermined reason supposedly relating to stp, they assign
a mac address of fe:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff to the bridge.
Was hoping someone here may be able to elaborate on that.
If I enslave a bridge to an ethernet, and than restart that network
interface, should the bridge operation behave the same after the ip
interface is restarted?

I am still rather new to dovecot, but this does not make sense.
I made sure to restart dovecot, even added a .procmailrc.
cat .procmailrc
MAILDIR=/home/tedkaz/Maildir

I am going to grab the latest version and test with that, but if if
anyone has insight into how I got here it would be appreciated :-)
Likely a pilot error.

bad blocks showing up
I am getting a few bad sector messages in my /var/log/messages.
I have read where an "fsck -c -c /dev/hda" may be what I need.
Before I go doing such things I am looking for confirmation that
that is what I should do. Anyone please comment on how to
tell linux to not use sectors in my disk. This is stright IDE no
raid not nothing at this point /dev/hda is all.
Thanks,

tls library message won''t go away
Hello,
I''m trying to upgrade to using the "boxed" xen supported on FC4
after having it working fine for a while on a manual installation
on FC3.
I upgraded the host operating system with the FC4 cdroms, and
it went mostly fine (after I turned off SElinux...)
Now, when I try to boot one of the provided xen kernels, namely:
vmlinuz-2.6.12-1.1447_FC4xen0
I always get the warning

PostgreSQL/SELinux Error - relation "pg_catalog.pg_user" does not exist

and restore the database dump. also, i can already log-in to my

there is, however, one annoying problem. whenever i type \du (or \d or

FC4 SMP domU ?
Is anyone running FC4 SMP domU''s?
I don''t recall if I tested this before and today I noticed that I can
only bring up FC4 domU''s as UP even though vcpus = 2.
xm list and /proc/cpuinfo are in agreement :-)

netfilter debug patch info
Poking around in the bridge latency issue I have, I discovered this
netfilter patch.
http://patchwork.netfilter.org/netfilter-devel/patch.pl?id=2751
In my case I was getting a slew of
ip_local_deliver: bad skb: PRE_ROUTING LOCAL_IN LOCAL_OUT POST_ROUTING
entries.
I didn''t see this on the list so I posted for reference.

ethool for e1000
I recently noticed that after starting xend ethtool no longer work for
my e1000 card. In my 2.X box which is a P4, ethtool is working after
xend start. Same version of e1000 on both boxes.
The unstable box is a
Tyan 2462 SMP, FC4 dom0
The 2.X box is
Dell P330 UP, Centos 4.1 domO
Until xend start ethtool is fine, in both setups I am using the e1000 as
eth0.

xen_blk: can''t get major 8 with name sd
This happens randomly, more often than not the next xm create will
succeed. Don''t think kernel config is related as I use almost identical
setup on my UP machine, but I use the work around for dev designations
on all the vm configs. With that setup I get 100% success on creation of
domU''s with changeset: 7353:29db5bded574, this changeset would not boot
dom0 on the SMP machine.

Also had all the domU''s toast right after this, they where running for

domU using dom0 loop interface
Is their presently any way to get a domU to use a domO''s loop interface?
In the past I have used loop interfaces to prevent Layer 2 issues with
high availability network setups and it works like a charm for and
server side apps.
