APC SMX3000RMLV2UNC with AP9631 NUT compatibility via network
I have an APC SMX3000RMLV2UNC UPS, with installed network card model AP9631. http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SMX3000RMLV2UNC http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=AP9631 I planned to use network connectivity with this unit and apcupsd, but have not this far. The UPS is shared by multiple servers, so a USB or Serial connection via the AP9620 is not feasible: http://...

APC BR1500LCD
Hi gang, I have the APC BR1500LCD [1] and would like to know if NUT can handle it. The compatibility list [2] does not show it but I thought that perhaps it would fit in as some other unit. Does anyone else have this unit? [1] http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BR1500LCD [2] http://www.networkupstools.org/compat/stable.html -- /jm

APC 750VA UPS not recognized by NUT?
Hi, all! I sucessfully install NUT by source, but it could not recognize my UPS device My UPS device is APC Smart-UPS 750VA USB & Serial 230V for China. Pruduct introduction: http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SUA750ICH The page is in Chinese. It may be similar with this one: http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SMT750I The UPS device did well on my Synology NAS device, but it could not be detected by NUT of my own board. I did plugged it to the USB port...

USB ups on solaris
...low) with an USB connection. From reading the FAQ, it looks like the proper driver would be newhidups, but there is some development work required to map between the Solaris USB hid and the newhidups. Is that correct, or am I overlooking something simpler? http://www.apcc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BR1500 Thanks, George

APC Back-UPS XS 1500 LCD support (was: New supported UPS for your list)

I thought you might want to add this model to the http://www.networkupstools.org/compat/stable.html page. If you need any other information, please let me know. For Fedora Core 8, the following packages were used: nut-client-2.2.0-6.1.fc8 nut-2.2.0-6.1.fc8 libusb-0...

OT: remote power cycling
I'm in a situation where I'm going to have to deploy a rack of servers in an unmanned location in another country. On rare occasions, I've had systems that would not recover gracefully from a warm reboot and needed the power cycled. Years ago, I had such a device from APC, but haven't needed one in a long time since all my locations are staffed. I'd welcome any

"Battery constant" value for APC UPS
...ort Customer (Russell Odom) - 05/31/2006 04:13 PM Hi, We have a Smart-UPS 3000 RM that is seemingly calculating the battery runtime incorrectly. The calculated runtime at 45% load and 100% battery charge stays somewhere between 0 and 120 secs, but according to http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SU3000RMI3U the runtime should be about 13 minutes at half load. Since the estimated runtime is not more that 2 mins, the UPS is permanently in a 'Low Battery' state (with the front-panel LEDs flashing), and the monitoring software therefore forces an immediate shutdown any ti...

Back-up connection
Some weeks ago, I asked if anyone had set up a backup scheme for a remote server. By backup here, I mean an alternative arrangement that can be called upon if eg the DSL connection to the remote machine fails. I received one interesting reply: ====================== At home, besides my fixed lines, I have two gsm-modems, one low-speed (that came free of charge with one of my fixed lines), the

using a Laptop as a KVM console?
Hi all, Has anyone seen something like this before: I want to use a laptop as a KVM console. Basically when a technician goes to one of our datacentres, or clients he has to look for a free LCD, keyboard & mouse to connect to a server (no network access, reinstall, troubleshoot failed kernel / HDD, etc). And then hopefully there's an open power socker in that cabinet. So I'm
