TDMoIP and Asterisk
RAD appear to have bucketloads of products which bridge between various interfaces (E1, BRI, POTS) and their own TDMoIP protocol. The attractive thing about them for me is their availability in Australia. The voip wiki says not much about it (http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/TDMoIP), and certainly nothing about if there is any way to get Asterisk to talk TDMoIP. Despite the name, TDMoIP appears to be able to use...

TDMoE Question
Just a Question. I would like to know if TDMoE follows specifiaciones of TDMoIP RAD protocol that says that there is a compression of 16/1 when you do TDMoIP. Manuel Marin Garcia TRANSTELCO S.A. * point to point t1 solution? / alternatives
This has been an interesting discussion for me (except for the sniping). The last post led me, out of curiosity, to this wiki entry: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+TDMoE I was unaware of this feature, and it looks pretty good. I've been pondering replacing some T1's by leveraging IP capacity but of course have run up against the QoS issue. My idea was different... I

Re: OT: Legacy systems / fax
...while to come. Wise managers will limit this to the outer boundaries of their enterprises wherever practical, ASAP. From: Jean-Michel Hiver <jhiver@ykoz.net> Doing a analog (piece of paper) -> digital (scanning process) -> analog (modulation over TDM) -> digital (conversion to TDMoIP) -> analog (demodulating on the other fax) -> digital (reconstructing the image in fax memory) -> analog (printing) conversion doesn't make any kind of sense... It might be great for legacy systems, but it's so not the right way of doing it.

gsm picocells
Is anyone in the world making gsm 'picocells' which could be connected to an Asterisk server and allow gsm mobiles to roam to them (and therefore become just another extension) when in the office? Obviously lots of things to consider (it's a licensed band) which I think was the big holdup last time I asked this question anywhere. I know there was talk about using them on aircraft

* point to point t1 solution?
Can anyone point me to a reference or sample config for bypassing a nailed up (point to point) t1 between two PBXs with asterisk and a pair of t1 cards? Right now I have 2 Nortel norstars connected to each other via a leased line t1. I also have a solid 10mbps low latency microwave link between the 2 sites. My goal is to run an asterisk box at each end with a t1 card and Ethernet card to
