Mandatory windows settings (profiles)
Hello all. I recently upgraded to Samba 3.0 (CVS HEAD) and finally have a working Samba-PDC with Windows 2000 and XP clients. Right now, I'm working with the profiles and I'd like to force some mandatory settings. I read something about using NTUSER.MAN. Can someone further explain this file and how to create it? Here's what I'd like to do: 1) My Documents path = H:\My

messaging problems
I'm having trouble sending messages to my Win2000 and XP clients. Everything worked with Samba 2.2.2, and now with Samba 3.0 (CVS) it fails. Below are two trails, the first works (sending to the Samba server) and the second fails. (Also, how do I get rid of the upcase.dat, lowcase.dat, and valid.dat errors?) Thanks!! -Paul penguin# echo "TEST" | smbclient -M penguin incorrect size

odd home directory mapping with Samba 3.0
Samba is mapping my home directory to a share called "" (0x03) instead of "paul" ... what's the deal here? I didn't change anything from 2.2.3a. Linux EXT3 support? problems flushing?
Does Samba fully support EXT3 filesystems? Often my WinXP clients lock up for about 3-15 seconds when a program requests a flush (ie, sometimes when Outlook is sending mail). I checked the logs and nothing unusual appears, other than flushing info -- not an OpLock problem. I've used Samba 2.2.2, 2.2.3a, and 3.0, all appear to have the same problem. Samba 3.0 - home directories are displayed as strange ascii characters when browsing
Hello all, With Samba 3.0, my home directories are displayed as strange ascii characters when browsing. All the other share names work fine. Anyone else experiencing similar problems? I wondering if it has to do with a code page or something and anyway to fix it. I've been having this problem since I tried Samba 3.0 alpha 13 and it still persists in cvs head today. (I have tried fresh

DHCP and WINS.... wins.dat is out of date
My wins.dat seems to be rather out of date. I'm running Samba 2.2.2 as a wins server with dhcp. When the client address changes, Samba doesn't seem to update wins. The clients are Win2k & WinXP. In the manual page, it suggests that I shouldn't change the max/min ttl parameters. Can I hook dhcp to samba somehow? Rebooting the out of date clients triggered Samba to update

Delayed Write Failed!
Hi all. I'm running Samba 2.2.3a with WinXP client and I keep getting messages that say "Delayed Write Failed" when saving to Samba shares. I don't have any hardware problems or similar problems with Linux programs. Here's my smb.conf: # Samba configuration [global] ###### HACKS AND TWEAKS ###### use spnego = no domain guest group = @smbguest nobody guest domain
