Copy Passwords from Active Directory to Samba
...#39;t find any reports of it working on Windows 2003 and am not sure if Active Directory stores passwords in the same manner as NT. Can anyone confirm this? I'm using a tdbsam password backend. Even if I can extract the passwords from Windows, how can I add the pre-hashed password to the tbsam database? Thanks in advance. Charles

migrated from samba tdbsam to ldapsam and now some strange errors.

Sorry still unable to find documentation Hello I have set up a Samba 3 PDC on RHEL4 using the tdbsam backed. I can log in as a user who has been added to the tdbsam database from a workstation. ...with samba. Before starting from the wrong assumptions, I'd appreciate some suggestions. This is my plan for windows. -Since we have a realm CELL.NAME, I'd use a workgroup: WIN.CELL.NAME -Netbios name for pdc should be the same as in the dns: SMB.CELL.NAME -We have NO ldap passwords: tbsam.
