Errors while compiling packages with namespace?
Hello,
I try to set up namespaces for packages. It is fine for several of them,
except one whose compilation fails (under Windows XP & R 2.0.0):

Error in parse(file, n, text, prompt) : syntax error on line 21

Books on survival analysis and R/S
I will be giving a course in survival analysis using R (of course!) for
people who know nothing about the subject (including R), but know basic
statistics. I'm looking for a suitable course book. Therneau & Grambsch
(2000) is an excellent book, but too much for this course. I need somthing
more elementary.
I have a vague memory saying that such books exist, but I cannot find any

Function comparable to cutpt.coxph from "Survival Analysis using S"
The title says it all really; I am looking for a function along the lines of
cutpt.coxph as described in "Survival Analysis Using S" (Tableman and
Kim), Chapter 6. As may be guessed, the function optimises the
cutpoint of a continuous variable for cox proportional hazard
modelling. I can't find it, or any similar function, on CRAN.
Alternatively, perhaps there is a way of extracting the likelihoods
from the output of coxph.

cox goodness of fit
Is there an implementation of the Cox-Snell residuals / Nelson-Aalen plot
for goodness of fit?
Or otherwise is there an appropriate Goodness of Fit diagnostic?
Thanks

How have you solved the problem? Have you found it or a similar function?
thank you, Sincerely, Friederike

anova tables in survreg (PR#9806)

To whom it may concern,
I'm trying to get an ANOVA table within survreg but it always produces NA's in
the p-value, regardless of the data set. The data set below comes from Tableman
and Kim 2004. I had the same problem on a number of my own data sets. I searched
the R site for others that have had this problem and it appears that at least
one has: Ronaldo Reis Junior <chrysopa> wrote a couple of messages but there
were never replies (search using "survreg" and...
