create a report page with 3 tables involved?
Hi, I am learning Radrails and want to tie the web project all together by displaying 3 tables linked together. I want to select one item from the main table, and then link to the other two tables. they will be linked by the key of the first table. It seems that I should create a rhtml in a main table or should I just copy the list.rhtml created by the generator scaffold? I might not make any

Five functions proposed for base
Dear r-devel, Among the R functions I have written and later shared with colleagues, there are five that I hope will become a part of the R base package. The tasks are neither specific nor marginal, so rather than creating one more 'misc' package, I would be happy if the R Development Core Team would adopt these functions and hammer them into shape. The functions are available from

[PATCH 06/18] drm: use ARRAY_SIZE
Using the ARRAY_SIZE macro improves the readability of the code. Also, it is not always useful to use a variable to store this constant calculated at compile time nor to re-invent the ARRAY_SIZE macro. Found with Coccinelle with the following semantic patch: @r depends on (org || report)@ type T; T[] E; position p; @@ ( (sizeof(E)@p /sizeof(*E)) | (sizeof(E)@p /sizeof(E[...])) | (sizeof(E)@p

averaging two tables (rows with columns)
Hi R user,I am struggling to figure out on how I can calculate the average from the two tables in R. Any one can help me? really your help would be grateful- I am spending so much time to figure it out. It should not be so hard, I think. I have very big data but I have created a hypothetical data for simplification. for example I have : table 1 table 1: species occurance data

Readjusting the OUTPUT csv file
Dear R helpers   I have some variables say ABC, DEF, PQR, LMN and XYZ. I am choosing any three varaibles at random at a time for my analysis and name these files as input1.csv, input2.csv and input3.csv. So if I choose variables say ABC, DEF and PQR, I am passing the specifications of these variables to input1.csv, input2.csv and input3.csv respectively.   This means in another case even if I

rake migration with transactions.

I use migrations to handle my database scheme and i put all actions between a transaction block like this . execute "BEGIN work;" execute "CREATE TABLE table1 (xxx);" execute "CREATE TABLE table2 (xxx);" execute "CREATE TABLE table3 (xxx);" execute "COMMIT work;" I do this because if ''create table2'' fails, the process is

[PATCH 00/18] use ARRAY_SIZE macro
Hi everyone, Using ARRAY_SIZE improves the code readability. I used coccinelle (I made a change to the array_size.cocci file [1]) to find several places where ARRAY_SIZE could be used instead of other macros or sizeof division. I tried to divide the changes into a patch per subsystem (excepted for staging). If one of the patch should be split into several patches, let me know. In order to reduce

compression at zfs filesystem creation
Hi, I just installed 2009.06 and found that compression isn''t enabled by default when filesystems are created. Does is make sense to have an RFE open for this? (I''ll open one tonight if need be.) We keep telling people to turn on compression. Are there any situations where turning on compression doesn''t make sense, like rpool/swap? what about rpool/dump? Thanks, ~~sa

centralized or decentralized puppet infrastructure
Hi All, In my companies environment, we have multiple sites in multiple geographic locations, sometimes with high latency between the sites. I''m trying to come up with a solution that could provide puppet infrastructure to all sites nodes. ----a few assumptions--- - puppet manifest / configuration is fetched from a centralized version control system. - store db is needed (ssh keys,

vorbiscomment gui ideas
I was playing in Glade tonight with couple of GUI ideas for the vorbis comment editor. I've attached the glade file. A few notes: On the user-friendly version, we might want an "Advanced" tab that would pop up the user-hostile version to edit "non-standard" comment tags. I'm just not sure how to do that in a way that won't scare the non-technical. We need to
