new release 3.4.0 - critical security release
...patches within the rsync-patches-3.4.0.tar.gz archive seem to contain new unnecessary hunks that change the prefix from /usr to /usr/local. This was not the case in 3.3.0.
I use the fileflags.diff patch in the MacPorts build of rsync, and with the 3.4.0 version of this patch, it does not build:
t_stub.c:34:14: error: redefinition of 'module_dirlen' with a different type: 'unsigned int' vs 'int'
unsigned int module_dirlen = 0;
^
t_stub.c:31:5: note: previous definition is here
int module_dirlen = 0;
^

[patch] add "--ignore" option
...in a --filter rule.
+This affects --exclude-from, --include-from, --ignore-from, --files-from,
+and any merged files specified in a --filter rule.
It does not affect --cvs-exclude (since all names read from a .cvsignore
file are split on whitespace).

the alloca comes from the new popt release. What system are you having an

rsync 3.0.2 with --fileflags on FreeBSD: cannot rsync hardlinked immutable files
Hi *,
it seems rsync with --fileflags isn't able to work on (already)
hardlinked and immutable ("schg") files on FreeBSD. The following
scripts will create a simple example for this behaviour:
--------------------------------------------------------------
#! /bin/sh

#
set -x
DIR="/var/tmp/rsync_$(date +%s)/"
mkdir "${DIR}/"

[PATCH] SSE2/SSSE3 optimized version of get_checksum1() for x86-64
What do you base this on?
Per https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/x86-Options.html :
"For the x86-32 compiler, you must use -march=cpu-type, -msse or
-msse2 switches to enable SSE extensions and make this option
effective. For the x86-64 compiler, these extensions are enabled by
default."
That reads to me like we're fine for SSE2. As stated in my comments,
SSSE3 support must be
