CentOS 8 Broken Installation

Here is solution for instaling CentOS 8 on Dell T610 with SAS controler (copied from Mike Chan): Intro: ** Keyword: CentOS 8 LSI SAS2 Trying CentOS 8 on an old machine (Dell T610) but the installer can't find disks for installation. It turns out that the RH removed the support for LSI SAS2 controllers in the mpt3sas driver. I've found som...

disk performance on server migrated
...lized server. That server is a PDC with random profiles and file server. Some users are reporting me bad performance in the app shared (all developed on MS-ACCESS). the memory and cpu reports in the domU show all fine, but i have some doubts in the disk performance. The dom0 is a Dell PowerEdge T610 (2 cpu Intel Xeon, 8GB RAM) the domU is a vserver created using the xen-create-image options, to create a "hard disk" on ext3 file system. the old server was a poweredge 2600 with scsi disks. how can i confirm if the domU server have really a bad disk perfomance (compared with the old...

Are there (non-Sun/Oracle) vendors selling OpenSolaris/ZFS based NAS Hardware?
I''ve seen the Nexenta and EON webpages, but I''m not looking to build my own. Is there anything out there I can just buy? -Kyle

Xen PV warning messages on boot
...OS release 5.7 (Final) Press ''I'' to enter interactive startup. Cannot access the Hardware Clock via any known method. Use the --debug option to see the details of our search for an access method. Setting clock (utc): Sun Feb........... and so on Hardware is a Dell T610. Is this normal, or does it mean that the VT-d is not working on the hardware or something? Apparently I''ll need to configure VNC to access a graphical console, which is fine. Any way to eliminate these warning messages or should I not have any concerns about running a server in this en...

GSM phones, bluetooth and general happiness
...rticular cell-phone. Since then, I've moved to Asterisk. I looked at at cell-sockets again recently, but they haven't really gotten any cheaper... And on top of that, I'd now require a precious FXO interface for *. I looked at some developer documentation for my particular phone (S/E T610) while connecting it to my PC via Bluetooth. For those who are unaware, all GSM phones have a built-in set of AT modem commands. Not surprisingly, I was able to place calls as well as receive ring-indicators, caller-id information and call-progress information via the virtual serial port that the...

Advice on CentOS 7, software raid 1, lvm, 3 TB disks
...drives. I plan on installing CentOS 7 as a KVM host, with virtual machines for Win 7 Pro and Linux Mint. I am looking for some advice or a good how-to on configuring software raid on the two drives, then using LVM for the host and virtual machines. I have configured our company server (Dell T610) with hardware raid and LVM for a CentOS 6 KVM host and several virtual machines so I am not a complete novice, but have never setup a Linux software raid system, and have not played with a CentOS 7 install yet. I have been searching the web and forums for information and am not finding much f...

DIAX 0.9.8c available for download
...ble for download. No new features, just some bug fixes and improovments (I hope so). Fixes: - Server button do not stop flashing after hearing the new message; - CallerID not show every time; - 'D' as new type of call (dialed but not answered); - Right button not functional on SonyEricsson T610; - Redesigned to increase app stability. Please send me your feedback especially regarding the stability comparing with 0.9.8a. If you have 0.9.8a installed, you just need to replace the executable (diax.exe). Thank you for your help and best regards, Dan

...than 2s delete all from the display - the application is minimized if clicking on 'X' in the right up corner - launch DIAX without an audio device - send X10 commands based on CallerID - prevent phonebook entries without any name - better handling LEFT/RIGHT keys from some SonyEricsson T610 Bluetooth phones - better display format for BT phones, based on currently bSelected (in the phone) text size - extended debug info in debug mode solved bugs: - if reducing the number of registration servers, the deleted one goes to red even not defined. - call volume - no counter incremen...

Mobile phone codecs ...
Not strictly asterisk related, however... Here's an odd one for you.. I got a Nokia E90 and setup it's SIP client which runs via Wi-Fi (anyone know if I can make it work via GPRS/3G?) Anyway, in a fit of idleness, I thought I'd see what codecs it supports, as I couldn't find it in the manual... And it supports: ilbc g729 ulaw/alaw No GSM! How odd is that, given

Slightly OT: Centos KVM Host/Guest functions and LVM considerations
...as I go, and document it so that I don't have to relearn it again. My current server is a Dell (PE2600) with 1 GB RAM and 6 drives in a RAID 5 configuration, without LVM. I have been blessed with a very stable system with only a few minor hiccups in 7 years. My new server will be a Dell (T610) with 12 GB RAM, 4 drives in a RAID 5 configuration, and an iDRAC6 Enterprise Card. The primary function of my new server hardware will be as the Samba file server for the company. It may also provide all, or a subset of, the functions my existing server provides. I am considering adding a...

Trouble with wine 0.9.21
Hi everyone, This is my first post to the list, and I'm not too experienced with wine, so please excuse my ignorance. I've tried to install a pc suite for my sony ecrisson phone. Its called MyPhoneExplorer[1]. First of all I attempted to install the latest version 1.4.5. That bombs fairly quickly with the following message: wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000001 at

Problems with power management xen 3.4
I''ve a problem with managing power consumption on Intel Nehalem CPU. I''ve installed Xen 3.4 on our Dell PowerEdge T610 system on a Ubuntu 9.04 distribution. I recompiled the kernel 2.6.30rc5. Now I can see the c-states of the CPUs but no access to P-states information and the frequency scaling does not work. By the way, if I run the kernel 2.6.28.13 which is the last one supported by Ubuntu, I have access...

Resizing est4 filesystem while mounted
Greetings - I had a logical volume that was running out of space on a virtual machine. I successfully expanded the LV using lvextend, and lvdisplay shows that it has been expanded. Then I went to expand the filesystem to fill the new space (# resize2fs -p /dev/vde1) and I get the results that the filesystem is already xx blocks long, nothing to do. If I do a # df -h, I can see that the

Running on Dell hardware?
I have a Dell R710 which has been flaky for some time. It crashes about once per week. I have literally replaced every piece of hardware in it, and reinstalled Sol 10u9 fresh and clean. I am wondering if other people out there are using Dell hardware, with what degree of success, and in what configuration? The failure seems to be related to the perc 6i. For some period around the time

Failing to start or create VM, cannot connect to hypervisor host
Greetings - I shutdown one of my Centos 6.2 VMs for some offline maintenance and am now unable to get it to restart. I am also unable to create and start a new VM. The host system is Centos 6.2, fully up to date. I have been searching Google for two days and have not been successful in getting a VM to start. I have restarted libvirtd, but did not want to shutdown my other two running VMs and
