What is the 32 GB 2.5-Inch SATA Solid State Drive?
Does anyone know about this device? SESX3Y11Z 32 GB 2.5-Inch SATA Solid State Drive with Marlin Bracket for Sun SPARC Enterprise T5120, T5220, T5140 and T5240 Servers, RoHS-6 Compliant This is from Sun''s catalog for the T5120 server. Would this work well as a separate ZIL device for ZFS? Is there any way I could use this in a T2000 server? The brackets appear to be different. -- -Gary Mills- -Unix Support-...

libzfs zfs_create() fails on sun4u daily bits (daily.1110)
...d ZFS dataset creation in general. NOTE: I''m only seeing this aberrant behavior on sparc (both sun4u and sun4v). I haven''t observed it on x86 (though I haven''t tested it on 32-bit x86). Here''s output that I gathered from a sun4v machine: ----8<---- root t5120-sfb-01 [23:00:49 134]# uname -a SunOS t5120-sfb-01 5.11 onnv-gate:2009-11-10 sun4v sparc SUNW,SPARC-Enterprise-T 5120 root t5120-sfb-01 [23:04:43 0]# zfs list NAME USED AVAIL REFER MOUNTPOINT rpool 40.2G 93.7G 66K /rpool rpool/ROOT 8.43G 93.7G 21...

Analyzing java class loading with dtrace
Hi there, I am trying to diagnose a performance problem on a Sun T5120 running Solaris 10. I see general poor performance using Java and, in particular, loading classes. I have developed a simple java test that loads all of the classes in a Crystal Reports JAR file (around 7000 classes) which takes much longer on the T5120 (40 secs) than on a Core 2 Duo windows PC (5...

Activity after LU with ZFS/Zone working
Hy all, recently I upgraded to S10U8 a T5120 using LU. The system had a zones configured and at time of upgrade procedure the zones was still alive and worked fine. The LU procedure was ended successfully. Zones on the system was installed in a ZFS filesystem. Here the result at the end of LU (ABE-from: s10Aug2007, ABE-to: s10Set2009): # zfs...

zfs list improvements?
To improve the performance of scripts that manipulate zfs snapshots and the zfs snapshot service in perticular there needs to be a way to list all the snapshots for a given object and only the snapshots for that object. There are two RFEs filed that cover this: http://bugs.opensolaris.org/view_bug.do?bug_id=6352014 : ''zfs list'' should have an option to only present direct

Peculiarities of COW over COW?
We run our IMAP spool on ZFS that''s derived from LUNs on a Netapp filer. There''s a great deal of churn in e-mail folders, with messages appearing and being deleted frequently. I know that ZFS uses copy-on- write, so that blocks in use are never overwritten, and that deleted blocks are added to a free list. This behavior would spread the free list all over the zpool. As well,

sun4v arch
I would also like to help as well. As KMacy knows before i asked a lot of questions for T2 types of servers but unfortunately i have no more access to those kind of hardware as well. I;m willing to participate if a team will be formated.
