Optimus switch corrupts memory on Lenovo T440p
Hello,
On new Lenovo T440p laptops with new BIOSes (1.16 and further) there is a
memory corruption when trying to disable, and then re-enable, nvidia GPU.
There is a bugreport for bbswitch (
https://github.com/Bumblebee-Project/bbswitch/issues/78), but this problem
shows even when doing disable and re-enable with acpi_call,...

Laptop recommendation
...atform module
Support for these modules, as for the network (Ethernet + WiFi) for
RHEL/Centos6.
I tested Lenovo W540, and the WiFi is not detected. lspci shows:
03:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Device 818b
I came across
http://askubuntu.com/questions/376732/thinkpad-t440p-wireless-network-controller,
so it turns out, this WiFi card is not supported (yet).
So, if anyone can recommend a working solution, please contact me,
either here or off the list.
Thanks in advance,

Any special option to debug kernel just freezing?
Use syslinux 6.03 for my g4l disk imaging project, and it works great.
Have just had a user that has a new thinkpad t440p system and it load the
syslinux, and he can select any of the various kernels included on the iso, but
it freezes at a point with no error message just stops?
Originally, the last thing
ata8: PATA max PIO4 cmd 0x170 ctl 0x376 irq 15
But I built a special kernel with all the PATA stuff removed si...

Instable graphics with GeForce GT 730M, especially on external monitor
What's the connector name when you plug in via, say, DVI? Is it "DP-1"
or is it "DVI-D-1" or whatever? You should be able to see the name in
'xrandr'. Unfortunately I don't know how the T440p is wired, there are
a few ways it could go. In some cases, even the "VGA" port is secretly
a DP -> VGA active adapter inside the laptop.
Basically I'm trying to rule DisplayPort as a source of potential issues.

Do you know what Windows does then? I think we

[PATCH v2 4/4] drm/nouveau/acpi: fix lockup with PCIe runtime PM
...65M).
Mirror the behavior of Windows 8 and newer[1] (as observed via an AMLi
debugger trace) and stop using the DSM functions for D3cold when power
resources are available on the parent PCIe port.
pci_d3cold_disable() is not used because on some machines, the old DSM
method is broken. On a Lenovo T440p (GT 730M) memory and disk corruption
would occur, but that is fixed with this patch[2].

There were many models from 2013 without _PR3 method but still checking
for _OSI("Windows 2013"). Maybe some heuristics based on _PR3 would be
more helpful than just a cutoff date?

[PATCH v2 0/4] nouveau RPM fixes for Optimus
Hi,
Here are two patches to fix an issue reported on kernel bugzilla (infinite loop
due to unchecked function) and a more important fix to fix hanging Optimus
machines when runtime PM is enabled (with pm/pci patches).
See the first version[1] for a background on the fixed problems. This is the
second revision of incorporating feedback from Emil Velikov (patch 1), Mika
Westerberg (patch 4).

[PATCH v3 0/4] nouveau RPM fixes for Optimus (final)
Hi,
Here are two patches to fix an issue reported on kernel bugzilla (infinite loop
due to unchecked function) and a more important fix to fix hanging Optimus
machines when runtime PM is enabled (with pm/pci patches).
These are the final patches targeting v4.8. Changes compared to v2[1]:
collected R-b from Hans and Mika and fixed a minor comment style issue.
I recommend it to be merged before
